Giving: For God so loved the world that He gave….

For God so loved the world, that He gave…

give1

Today, as I read my One-year Bible I read: Ex 35: 21 All whose hearts were stirred and whose spirits were moved came and brought their sacred offerings to the Lord.

Looks a lot like: 2 Corinthians 9:7

So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

God is the giver of all life! His nature is to give! As we walk with Him, we discover the joy in giving, but notice in these verse this one thing:

In each case God stirred the heart of the person to give!

God knows how to take up an offering, and who He can stir to pay His bills.

For those of us called into full-time ministry, that takes all the pressure off of people, and puts it where it rightfully belongs: on His exceedingly great and precious promises.

He cannot lie, and He cannot fail, and He is well able to stir the hearts of those He has called to support us in our vision and mandate.

Our job is to remain holy, so that their offerings will be like this verse calls them: ‘sacred offerings’ unto the Lord.

Where do I give? Who do I give to?

Hebrews 7:8

Here mortal men receive tithes, but there he receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives.

I believe the correct answer to that question is not merely who, what and where, but according to this verse: HOW I give.

I must give in faith. Sure, mortal men receive tithes, but when I give, Jesus, the high priest of my confession, personally receives them as part of my worship, and then He acts in my life, bearing witness that He has risen from the dead: He LIVES!

So, Jesus is Lord, and He speaks whomsoever He will, where to give, who to give to there, and then looks to see HOW we give, with a good heart, a heart of thanksgiving and worship unto Him.

Put a smile on Jesus face today. Do like He does, give!

There is joy and purpose in it, and He loves to get actively involved with us in our prosperity, as we give.

Worship!

Give-Your-Best-To-God

Let’s Pray:

‘Father, show me what to give, where, to whom, today. May I worship you in this, giving glory and testimony to the fact that Jesus LIVES, He is risen from the dead, and He reigns! Amen”

Why Go to Church?

why

My three thoughts on why I need to go to church are:

  1. God commands it.
  2. Be the church
  3. It should be a place to serve, give, worship, and meet with Jesus!
  • God Commands it:

  1. So, the first reason we should attend a local church is found here:Well, the first commandment in the Bible, is to love God with all of our hearts, minds, souls and strength. Jesus said, that if we love Him, we will obey His commandments.

Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Novel concept this: we go to church, simply because God commands it! Doesn’t mean we always like it, just like when I am instructing a child on a new level of responsibility, and they do not like to do dishes, clean their room, or homework, it is good for them, and I am instructing them because I love them, and want them to be a responsible adult. (I would never want their future spouses to arrive at my door some day, and say: Why did you not raise your child better? Living with them is incredibly difficult!) So, there may be seasons in the house of the Lord, where we do not particularly like attending our local place of worship, as seasons of our life in Jesus change, but it is the faithful man that abounds with God’s blessing. Sometimes the best we can hope for is to be faithful…

[ The Joy of Going to the House of the Lord ] [ A Song of Ascents. Of David. ] I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord.”glad

2.    Be the Church

why be Matthew 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it

Acts 2:47 Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

1 Corinthians 12:28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

I used to think, that because I hold one of these gifts, that I needed to use it in the local church, yet I see that there are other battlefields Jesus has called me to, outside of the church walls. I attend my local church, but I am not called presently to serve there, as I am often travelling, writing, or creating something out of nothing, as Holy Spirit speaks and flows through me. Yet, everything I do, is to build the kingdom of God, and strong local churches wherever possible. Generally though, you will find your place of purpose and service, in the local church, before God sends you out….

And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own?

Knowing and flowing in your particular gift and calling is critical to finding peace with God and people, but there comes a point where we grow in our local church to the point where we attend to give, not merely to receive.

Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

Those who are planted in the house of the Lord Shall flourish in the courts of our God.
flourish

It is all about Jesus, He is Lord, Head of the church, and whatever He says, do it, no matter what your particular denomination or local assembly may say about it. If He truly speaks, what He says will be Biblical, though people may think you are out of your mind, going half way across the world to feed the poor, preach the gospel, or perform some Biblical act of love and kindness, you may not be out of your mind, just out of theirs! We have the mind of Christ! why gym 1 Timothy 3:15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth

  • Church should be a place to worship, serve, give, fellowship, pray and build a vision far greater than any one of us could build individually!

One of the ways we worship God is serving the people that He loves.   See here, the Final Judgment of God, no appeals, no lawyers in each of our lives, the final court case. Matt 25:31 ¶ When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32  And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: 33  And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34  Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36  Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37  Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38  When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39  Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40  And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. 41  Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 42  For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: 43  I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. 44  Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45  Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. 46  And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

One of the ways we worship God is serving the people that He loves. why left   Notice in this portion of Scripture, that Jesus says that one of the ways we will be accountable to God, eternally, is in our treatment of the poor and less fortunate in our midst. Saying we care, will not get us past this verse.

No, to obey it requires action, and these actions constitute worship acceptable to God. Here’s another James 1: 27  Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. Want to walk pure before God?

Here’s something you can do that He will accept. Visit some single mom, and help out there, then stay clean before God. Love her children, help her with her responsibilities, then make sure you remain free from all of the games and sin that would try to drag you into the mess there. You are to be an agent of change there, for good, and God’s glory, not part of the problem.

Of course, people living and serving Jesus together in the love of God, make a fun place to hang out: why serve Acts 2:42 42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. 44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.

46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,

Christian community, experienced in the love and power of God, is a wonder to behold

2 Corinthians 8:4 Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.

1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin

Serving Jesus should be a joyful experience, not a burden, but an eternal blessing. One third of the kingdom of God is joy, so let us say with the psalmist:

Psalm 122 [Full Chapter] I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord. Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem. Jerusalem is builded as a city that is compact together: God really is good, and Jesus really does love you!

Deuteronomy 28:47 Because thou servedst not the Lord thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things; why glad Seeking first Jesus, and aligning our lives with His Word, will produce the abundance of all things…

Here’s a great quote: Yet membership in a confessing body is fundamental to the faithful Christian life. Failure to do so defies the explicit warning not to forsake “our assembling together.” His understanding of this prompted Martin Luther to say, “Apart from the church, salvation is impossible.” Not that the church provides salvation; God does. But because the “saved” one can’t fulfill what it means to be a Christian apart from the church, membership becomes the indispensable mark of salvation. “So highly does the Lord esteem the communion of His church,” Calvin wrote,” that He considers everyone a traitor and apostate from religion who perversely withdraws himself from any Christian society which preserves the true ministry of the word and sacraments.” Charles W. Colson, The Body, 1992, Word Publishing, p. 70. Like Nike says: Just Do it!

Let’s pray: Father God, I choose to attend church, to worship You, to serve Your people, to give unto You, and to hear a living Word of power from Your throne. Show me where to become plugged into Your Body Lord Jesus, Amen;

why go

Cedar – Worship and Royalty

Cedar - Worship and Royalty

Cedar – Royalty and Worship
Le 14:6 As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water
1Ki 5:10 So Hiram gave Solomon cedar trees and fir trees according to all his desire.
1Ki 6:9 So he built the house, and finished it; and covered the house with beams and boards of cedar.
1Ki 7:12 And the great court round about was with three rows of hewed stones, and a row of cedar beams, both for the inner court of the house of the LORD, and for the porch of the house.
IF you do a simple word search on the word cedar in the Bible, you discover, without much in depth study, 46 verses.
Cedar was the wood chosen by God, and ordained as part of holy worship, it was used in the construction of the temple, and it was used to build Solomon’s palace.
It is the wood of royalty and worship…
Rev 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

As we prepare our sacrifice before God, to be offered this summer upon the soil of the Navajo nation, cedar seems to be the most fitting wood, red and white blended together by God into a beautiful tapestry of reconciliation, aromatic, like a sweet incense before His throne…
Jesus, may you receive the reward of Your suffering, and may this simple offering put a smile upon Your face…We worship You!

Greater than the Universe!

Greater than the Universe!

Big God!
Luke 18:27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
Many years ago, I was at home in worship, and I was praying in other tongues listening to a Phil Driscoll tape. It was night, and I went out on the back deck, and found a flashlight and looked up at the stars, and turned it on, (while the worship tape was blaring really loudly, ‘I exalt thee’ as only Phil Driscoll can sing it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQhSHIYcKQM ). My science engineering mind kicked in, and like a child, I thought about that beam of light headed off into space, at over 186,000 miles per second. I thought about how in one second, that beam travelled 186,000 miles, and in two, why it would double that…
Think how far it would travel in a minute? An hour? A day? A month and a year?
In physics, we were taught that distances between galaxies in the universe, were measured in light years, and that galaxies we can see on a clear night, are actually over 100 million light years away from earth. I thought about the power of some of these stars, that dwarf our sun being 100 times bigger, or even 1000! I thought about the awesome power of some of those stars, and how incredibly powerful they must be, as I peered into the starry night. All the while, Phil Driscoll was blaring off the stereo, and suddenly, I was immediately in front of one of those stars, not a vision, I was actually there! I could see it’s blazing light, immense power, and somehow I knew that God had brought me there, for a reason. Behind me, was Father God, in all His glory, His brightness and searing, blinding, light; so much greater than this immense star, that I could not turn and look at Him, lest I die.
Hab 3:4 And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power.
Moses cried out that God show us His glory:
Ex 33:18 And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.
Ex 33:22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:
That somehow, God had brought me to this place in the universe, faster than the speed of light, and as great as the universe is, He is much, much greater. In fact, somehow, He shielded me from His glory, lest I be destroyed.
It has been said, that a man with an experience, is never at the mercy of a man with an argument.
Fools argue God’s existence, power, ability, love, mercy and glory.
I can never again do so.
While I do not claim to understand the mysteries of the universe, I know this one thing:
All of it was created by an incredibly powerful, almighty God, sovereign, who is far greater than His creation.
People of God have had glimpses of His glory throughout the generations but I heard Benny Hinn comment once on a revelation he had from Is 6, that bears witness to me:
Is 6:1 ¶ In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.
2 Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.
3 And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.
Benny saw the throne of God, the living creatures, actually worshipping. Holy to the Father, Holy to the Son, Holy is God’s Spirit, but God caused him to understand why they worshipped.
As they sang and cried their worship, they saw the glory of God. Each time they completed a circle, another facet of the glory of God was revealed to them, so great, that they fell on their faces again, and cried: Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts. That this has gone on since creation, and will go on throughout eternity!
Think about the greatness of the universe today. Think about how far 100 million light years actually is! Think about the size and magnificence of some of the galaxies we have discovered.
Now, think about God in His glory! So much greater than any of this!
I used to love to read science fiction books, and grew up watching Star Trek. I had always wondered if there was life on other planets. I mean, God is almighty, so perhaps there are other civilizations yet to be discovered, right?
So, I asked Him about it. One morning in worship, as His presence drew near, I asked Him, ‘Father, have you created life on other planets?’
The intensity of His reply is still with me, when I heard Him say: ‘No, son, I have experienced enough pain on this one.’
Perhaps, in eternity, we will be like Adam, and work with God, to create life on galaxies, and see them created in incredible beauty. Perhaps this is why the strange growth of the video game, Minecraft, among our children and youth. They get to create worlds, and fight evil creatures. That creative nature of God is in every human heart. We are created in His image, to love, to create, to build, to recreate when bad things happen.
Ec 3:11 He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart,
Jesus has provided access to His very throne of grace, by His shed blood. Nothing is too hard for Him, no matter what your circumstances look like, the One you pray too, is the One who flung the stars into being, set the planets in their orbits, set the galaxies in their place.
2Co 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
2Co 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
2 peter 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
2Pe 1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
His divine nature, is Spirit. Spirit is a higher form of substance, than any earthly matter: in fact, the universe did not originate from nothing, but from a higher form of matter, something that the Bible describes as Spirit.
When we believe God’s promises, we literally partake of this divine nature, and the realm of Spirit, comes into our lives, purifying us, delivering us from our earthly desires and lusts, and called us to live in this realm of eternal glory.
Yes, we will see His glory in heaven, but warriors of faith, where the action is, is in seeing His glory, manifest, here in the earth, today!
Believe! Deliberately choose to seek Him in His promises!
Ask Him to reveal His glory, presence, power, love and majesty to you, personally.
This, will change you, forever, and suddenly, you will fully agree with this verse:
Mt 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Mr 10:27 And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
Lu 18:27 And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
When you honestly experience the glory of God, it is much easier to believe….
Mr 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
This is my prayer today, I pray you pray it with me:
‘Father, Show me Your glory, greatness, love, and majesty! Reveal to me Your awesomeness! Jesus, I choose to come boldly to Your throne today, because Your shed blood has made a way! Holy Spirit, open my eyes, to Your reality, and Your plan, purpose, and eternal destiny upon my life. Cause me to walk out eternal destiny, today, for the sake of Your name and glory, Lord Jesus, Amen!”

Mark 1, Ex 23, 24, and Psalm 23 are today’s readings!

Let Jesus be your personal pastor…
The Lord is my Shepherd, my personal pastor, Lord, guide, provider, and source of life.
Indeed He leads me, as I seek Him, about everything. Been thinking about how this works in the real world, especially in our local church.
Seems it comes down to this one thing: Is Jesus our personal Lord.
When He is, we can talk to Him about anything, and church becomes a place to worship, serve one another, to recognize and celebrate one anothers gifts, and to support and encourage local leadership, recognizing that no matter how great they are, they too are only human, and under shepherd to Him.
With an attitude of serving the Body of Christ, in our gifts, preferring one another, I think that church becomes a place where we, no matter how much we grow and see great things, becomes a privileged place of serving in a vision, greater than any one of us…
Let’s Pray:
“Father, help me to find and take my place in Your Body, Your church, Your place of service in the kingdom, and to serve You, and recognize and support Your other gifts, that You might be glorified Lord Jesus, Amen’

Acts 25 Ex 15, 16 are today’s readings!

As I read this morning, and my son was singing and worshipping on his keyboard, my daughter, turned on the stereo, loud, blasting some praise and worship, so she could dance, at the exact moment, I read this verse:

Ex 15: 20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.

Reminded me of the verse:
Jos 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
So grateful, to have a family that serves Jesus, together!

Prayer as Incense….

Prayer as Incense....

 Incense as a prayer….

One day in our yearly Bible reading, as I began to meditate upon my journey this year, as I have been studying diligently, the plight of the North American Indian tribes. I am convinced that this is the number one agenda upon the heart of Father God, our Creator, that will unlock the move of the Holy Spirit we all seek, in this land we call the United States of America.

Psalm 141
King James Version (KJV)
141 Lord, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee.
2 Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

Prayer as Incense....
I am called to somehow bring the love of Jesus, and the truth of God’s covenant to these precious people, after the traditional church, has radically failed, in many cases to do so.
The general history of Christian missions to the Indian tribes, is, at best horrendous, although I am sure that there have been myriads of good hearted Christians (like the Christian missionaries that walked the ‘trail of tears’ with the Cherokee and Choctaw), who honestly did not have the understanding we now have of the Word of God, and a better perspective, of the visitations of the Creator, the Great Spirit, who we call the Holy Spirit, among the Indian tribes, over the centuries.

prayer incense of heart

It has been said of a true missionary, that their true job, is not to go make disciples of their version or interpretation of how they believe that people should serve God, rather, to go, and learn the language, customs, traditions, and culture of the people they are sent to, “TO DISCOVER THE WAYS THAT GOD HAS ALREADY VISITED THAT PEOPLE!’

smudging

Notice I have deliberately capitalized this thought, for the Scripture states that:

1 Peter 4:17
For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

Where the church has failed the indigenous peoples of North America, there has been judgment, and lost blessing, I am convinced, upon this nation.

Now, is the time to make wrongs right, and together with the red man, heal the land.

This is the amazing truth of American history: Not that the US has always done right, but in this land of the free and the brave, where we fight for freedom, liberty, and justice for all, that where America has done wrong, historically, they have always endeavoured to make wrongs, right. We have seen this in the cival war, to end slavery, and later under the leadership of Martin Luther King Jr in the cival rights movement, that where injustice or institutionalized evil is in place, there have always been champions of justice, to bring course correction to America, to keep her from the shipwrecks of God’s judgement.

The three battlegrounds to be championed in this generation are, in order of importance: The plight of the US Indian, Racisim again, and the elimination of abortion. May God raise up voices and champions of truth in each of these battlegrounds!

As a spiritual leader, with anointing and power with God (yet no earthly title or recognition as of yet), I actually believe that God has been visiting the Indian tribes, long before the white man came to this land.

crazy horse1
Crazy Horse (Lakota: Thašųka Witko, literally “His-Horse-is-Crazy”)

“Crazy Horse’s vision foretold the darkness that descended on his people. He saw the coming of automobiles and airplanes and the tragic world wars of the modern era. He saw his people gradually awakening after the last war and beginning to dance again under the Sacred Tree. Then amazingly he saw that dancing along with his people were representatives of all races who had become brothers. Thus he foresaw that the world would be made whole again, not just by his own nation but by all peoples working together.” – Bette Stockbauer

The Teton Sioux Chief Crazy Horse had a final vision in which “He saw his people being driven into spiritual darkness and poverty while the white people prospered in a material way all around them. But even in the darkest times, he saw that the eyes of a few of his people kept the light of dawn and the wisdom of the earth, which they passed on to some of their grandchildren. He saw the coming of automobiles and airplanes, and twice he saw the great darkness and heard the screams and explosions when millions of people died in two great world wars.

“But he saw, after the second great war passed, a time come when his people began to awaken, not all at once, but a few here and there, and then more and more, and he saw that they were dancing in a beautiful light of the Spirit World under the Sacred Tree even while still on Earth. Then he was amazed to see that dancing under the tree were representatives of all races who had become brothers, and he realized that the world would be made new again and in peace and harmony not just by his people, but by members of all races of mankind.” – Vinson Brown, Voices of Earth and Sky; 1974, Harrisburg, PA

Crazy Horse had a vision he shared with sitting bull during a pipe ceremony just days before he was murdered. He said, “Upon suffering beyond suffering, the red nation shall rise again and it shall be a blessing for the sick world. A world filed with broken promises, selfishness and separations. A world longing for light again. I see a time of seven generations, when all the colors of mankind will gather under the sacred tree of life and the whole earth will become one circle again. In that day, those among the Lakota who will carry knowledge and understanding of unity among all living things, and the young white ones will come, to those of my people to ask for wisdom. I salute the light within their eyes where the whole universe dwells, for when you are at the center within you and I am at the at place within me, we are as one.” – Crazy Horse from James Medicine Tree

This prophecy, uttered by chief Crazy Horse, in the presence of chief Sitting Bull (to my knowledge, the last free Indian chiefs), is widely accepted as being from God, by many, many Indian tribes and elders.
I too, believe it to be true.
It is now the time of the seventh generation, and I see myself as one of ‘the young white ones, with the light within their eyes where the whole universe dwells,’. That light in me, is Jesus, Christ in me, the hope of my glory!

Prayer as Incense:

prayer as incense
Today, as I think of the Indian tradition called ‘smudging’, where cedar, or sage, tobacco, or sweet grass is burned as incense, or an offering to our Creator, I see a great similarity, between First Nations worship, and the worship prescribed by God to the Hebrews, in the temple, before the ark.

Here are some Scriptures, where God ordained the burning to incense to be offered up with prayer and worship:
Exodus 30:1
And thou shalt make an altar to burn incense upon: of shittim wood shalt thou make it.
Exodus 30:7
And Aaron shall burn thereon sweet incense every morning: when he dresseth the lamps, he shall burn incense upon it.
Exodus 30:8
And when Aaron lighteth the lamps at even, he shall burn incense upon it, a perpetual incense before the Lord throughout your generations.

Malachi 1:11
For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the Lord of hosts.
Luke 1:9
According to the custom of the priest’s office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.
Luke 1:10
And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.
Luke 1:11
And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

Here we see prayer in heaven being received by our Creator, offered before Him by angels, with incense!

Menorah01
Revelation 8:3
And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.
Revelation 8:4
And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.,

These verses speak of incense, being offered with prayer, as a sweet aroma before the throne of God.

Yet, traditional white missionaries, in many cases, at best, misinterpreted this traditional tribal

practice, seeing it as pagan, demonic, or at best merely traditional. Read this article from a Catholic brother, that I agree with: http://www.peace.mb.ca/00.Native/nlrnz06-sweetgrass.php
I quote:
“Holy Smoke –
Fragrant smoke is one of these sacramentals. It has been used by peoples all over the world for thousands of years. Sweet grass, sage, cedar, etc. are forms of incense found in many First Nations cultures. It is used as a way of honouring the Creator, as a sign of prayer rising to God, and of the sweetness of prayer. It is a sign of humility (the humbleness of plants) and purity (the purifying effect of fire). Also for Christians, smoke is a reminder of the shining cloud that veils the glory of God.”

Yet, I believe the burning of sweetgrass, cedar, sage, as part of First Nations worship to be Biblical, spiritual, and one of the forms of worship God loves, as:
Revelation 5:9
And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
Revelation 7:9
After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
Again, as I have said before. Jesus did not come to destroy language, culture, and sacred traditions of elders and tribes, rather to redeem it, purify it, and bring it back to our Father, Creator, the Great One from whom all life flows.
May we learn to love one another, in purity of heart, and true holiness, seeking to honestly understand, in humility, the visitations of God in other cultures!
Let’s pray:
‘Father, again, I lift up a cry, for the North American Indian! Father, again, visit them, heal them, deliver and redeem them, and please, visit us, heal us, forgive and deliver us, redeem us, and open our eyes, to see You, in Your movements, traditions, and the worship of other people groups than ourselves. May we be instruments of reconciliation, peace, justice, and healing, revealing Your love, power, and redemption. Father, open our eyes to the ways we must change, hear, and walk, in order to heal this great land, we call, the United States of America. We ask, knowing we are heard, for we come only through the precious shed blood of Yeshua, Jesus, God the Son, risen from the dead, they we too might live in Him, Amen’
