Just Saying…

Just Sayin…

Read this verse, and I see it happen in people’s lives daily:

Job 19:2 How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?

broken words
Ever been around people that knowingly or unknowingly attempt to destroy your faith? You are carefully learning to use your words with caution, praying, trusting and believing God with ever fibre of your being in your hour of test, and then you discover people who speak, mockingly or contrary to the very thing you are believing for! That’s why the Bible says to in Pr 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

God knows, God cares, and: 1Pe 1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

Let’s pray:
‘Father, we wrestle not against flesh and blood…Help me to not not compromise what I have believed you for, before people, because of people. Help me to guard my heart against negative reports, words, and people, and to love them, no matter what they do. In your name I pray Lord Jesus, Amen!’

As I read this today, a thought struck me:

Luke 12:12 For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.

This verse is speaking about the response we need to exhibit, when we are persecuted or brought unjustly before a court system, but in this crooked and perverse generation, I am learning I need Holy Spirit to give me words and wisdom, every hour, of every day.

My responses to every cell phone call, or relationship, need to be of the Holy Spirit, because my words need to be consistent, faith-filled, and constantly in line with what I believe on purpose, before God each morning, in my morning watch of prayer and confessions.

As time has gone on, I see more and more the importance of learning the criticalness of watching what words I speak. As I look back over the years, I see clearly, this is an area God Himself has been dealing with me on, so for my own sanity, I am compiling a list of articles I have written over the years on the power of our words:

Let’s Pray:

They Say?

Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so wherethere is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.

I liked this picture, it made me think about the verse I quoted above. Why? Notice the matchstick? It is unlit.

Seems we can avoid many, many problems and controversies by simply refusing to gossip. Sure, something might be true, but love covers a multitude of sins. If you messed up, would you want your friends broadcasting your mess?

It is better to be quick to pray, and slow to spread rumors or tales of others woe. It doesn’t help them, you, or our communities, nor bring healing, hope, or anything constructive. Prayer, on the other hand, in the mighty name of Jesus, always is heard in heaven, and invokes God’s power to make wrongs right, and to fix the impossible.
pray no gossip

Some people struggle with identity crisis – we forget who we are before the throne of God – children of the most High God, ambassadors of heaven, royalty. Instead of letting God’s love permeate our deepest thoughts, and give us that deep inner confidence that can only come from heaven, we find ourselves trying to ‘keep up with the Jones’, more concerned with what ‘They’ think, than what God thinks.

Read this poem that sums it up pretty well:

Have you heard of the terrible family They,
And the dreadful venomous things They say?
Why, half the gossip under the sun,
If you trace it back, you will find begun
In that wretched House of They.

Ellen Wilcox Wheeler

I have heard stories about the life of my friend and pastor, Billy Joe Daugherty about how he handled it when someone approached him with a juicy piece of gossip. He would either grab the persons hand and say: ‘Great! Let’s pray for that person, right now!’

In one instance, his son complained to him about the behavior of one of the staff, and he said: ‘Let’s get them over here right now, so that we can pray together about this!” His son, was like, ‘But Dad, I want you take my side in this! Yet, he refused to do it, determined to walk in love and impartially towards everyone in the church.

If you have not really dug into the Scriptures yet, to discover who you are in God’s sight by looking in the mirror of His Word, please check out this article I wrote entitled ‘Identity Crisis’. In it, I’ve included several articles and confessions that agree with who Gods says we are: https://wordpress.com/post/chrisaomministries.com/8195

I have written a couple articles on the topic of gossip and words over the years you might find helpful:

Words are containers, servants that should be used carefully and wisely.

Like vessels, they contain the spirit in which they were uttered: either words of love, faith, and authority backed up by heaven, or vain, foolish non-productive words that don’t build anything, but only tear down people through insinuation, allegation, accusation, or lies.

Be a builder today, of people, places and things, using your words as tools to create a better piece of the world you occupy.

Lets pray

‘Father, put Your words in my mouth today. Words of life, love, power, and faith that change my world, and the lives of those around me. Set a watch upon my lips, a rein on my tongue, that I might not tear down what You have called me to build. May Your perfect love destroy my deepest insecurities, your peace that passes all understanding, reign in my heart. Let me truly love, and honestly not care what others think about me and mine, but let me walk free from the tyranny of others expectations, manipulations, and control. I ask this, knowing I am heard, for I ask in Your name Lord Jesus, Amen’

Know Your Faith?

Know Your Faith?

1 Thess 3:5 For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.

Interesting verse. Paul knew that the Christians in Thessolica had been persecuted and had suffered for the gospel, and he loved them, and wanted to make sure they were alright. He couldn’t get there himself, but like a parent with a child, he had to know they were okay. So, he sent someone to ‘know their faith’.

Just like a doctor has certain diagnostic tools to perform a check up, to see our physical health, and a mechanic has either a check list or computer diagnostic to determine the running condition of a vehicle, so a seasoned minister has certain diagnostic tools, to locate a persons heart and life, with respect to the Word of God.

In no particular order, here are a couple of these tools:
1. Their words. You can quickly discover what a person believes by what they are saying.
Mt 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Mt 12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

People that believe the Word of God in an area, have it hidden in their hearts.

What they believe, will be spoken, for the primary action of faith is words.

And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak…
faith voice

2. Their actions: Mt 9:2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.

When someone believes the Word of God in a certain area, there will be corresponding actions that go with what they believe. They will be attending church, caring for the poor, walking in love, forgiveness, and will be in prayer.

So, if someone claims to be a believer, you can find out what they believe about a certain area of the Word, by what they say, and do, in that area.

Does anyone have any other spiritual diagnostic tools, to discover where the faith of another person, or group truly lies?

Let’s Pray:
‘Father God, show me how to discern where the faith of others is at, and to add to them, in any way You and they will allow, in Your name I pray Lord Jesus, Amen’

Reclaiming Our Words – Reclaiming our Life!

Some time ago, I attended Ken and Gloria Copeland’s SW Believers conference in Ft. Worth, and am deliberately applying what I learned. One of the topics I heard taught again, is the importance of watching over the words we speak each day.

I have heard this taught for years, and walked in a certain measure of victory in this, but as time went on, my vocabulary has fallen short of my knowledge, making me by default merely a hearer of the Word of God, not a doer only.

Here’s a few Scriptures to get us back on track in this area.

James 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.

James 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

James 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

James 3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; (Yet, the Holy Spirit Can!) it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?

12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.

13 ¶ Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
words many transgress

1 Peter 3:10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
words person

Ok, so we see that much of our problems in life derive from what we speak. James 3:8 says no man can control the tongue, but the Holy Spirit can tame it!

2 Sam 23:2 The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.

3 The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.
pray the Word

1 Peter 4:11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Ephesians 6:19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

Colossians 4:3 Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:
design words

Why do we do this? We want to be in the perfect will of God, and we want to prosper and increase in every area of life. When we speak God’s Words, in faith, inspired and empowered by Holy Spirit, we open the door for heaven’s intervention upon our lives.

Psalms 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

WOG light

Proverbs 4:18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
light Psalm 119-130

Psalms 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

How do we do this? We speak the Word of God into the darkness of any situation, and the entrance of His Word brings light, for it is written:

Jer 1:12 Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.
power Holy Spirit

Is 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

With God’s word, we can literally make the desert bloom as a rose, and create something beautiful from nothing…https://chrisaomministries.com/2015/02/26/recreating-eden-replenish-the-earth/

Proverbs 18:20 A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
Lips of the righteous

This verse makes it plain, our living is dependant upon what we say, but our increase comes only from the faith filled words we speak.

1 Corinthians 1:5 That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;

See it again here? Paul prayed for the Corinthian church, that they be blessed or enriched. So, what did he pray? That they have utterance (faith filled words that will bring provision and increase), and that they get understanding of this principal.

2 Corinthians 8:7 Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.
I say

See it again here? Paul’s prayer is getting answered, these folks are abounding in everything, and he explains how. They believed the Word, that is had faith. They spoke, for out of the heart the mouth speaks, and 2 Corinthians 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;
faith speaks

When they spoke, God watched over His Word to perform it, and they increased, and were blessed!

Job 22:28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
decree

Ps 2: 7 ¶ I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
ask1

This principal is literally a matter of life and death.

Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
death and life

During my years at Rhema, I attended healing school for over a year, every day, determined to learn the ministry of divine healing. In healing, the words we speak over ourselves are critical. There have been cases where people who had been totally given up by medical science, given up for dead, were instructed to confess the Word of God over themselves. In the natural, they were so weak, they were literally at death’s door. Yet, by confessing, “Thank you Jesus, that you love me. I believe I receive your strength. I’m strong! Your Word says I am healed, and I believe I receive your healing. I’m healed, I’m strong, and getting stronger. Thank you Jesus that you sent the Holy Spirit, and He is here, and He is a life giving Spirit. I receive your life, Holy Spirit, and I will live and not die, and declare the glory of my God.”
heal1

By having folks simply repeat these words, twice daily, we watched their color come back, and cancer defeated, and paralysis reversed, and folks recover from strokes, and get off stretchers and out of wheelchairs. Continually, often, and it still goes on there 8 times/ week, forty or so years later!
heal medicine

So what should we speak? Healing, Prosperity, Victory, Strength, Wisdom, Direction, Praise, prayer in the Holy Spirit, provision, favor, to name a few things.

Psalms 35:28 And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.
praise sword

Psalms 119:172 My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.

So we can discipline our tongues, on purpose, through prayer, deliberate confession of the Word of God, and through time spent praying in the Holy Spirit.

Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Job 27:4 My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit.

A friend of mine Will, a cowboy that was at Rhema when I was there, told me the following, and it has stuck with me over the years. He said, ‘The way I see it, every time you speak, you either feed your faith, or feed your unbelief.” Why? Well, let’s say, I say, I will meet you at 3PM, but I don’t get there until 3:30. Well, actually I am a liar by a half an hour, but though God will immediately forgive us if we ask, we have hurt our own confidence in ourselves, and also in our trust towards God. Cause, we go through each day, speaking words, but not bringing them to pass in our own life, and then we approach a Holy God who cannot lie.
cowboy faith

We bring His Word before His throne, and what happens: He is ready to perform it. But, we do not believe He will, because we don’t believe ourselves, for we have been lying to ourselves and others, and it has hurt us and our confidence in our own words.

We may know we have authority with God, and may understand, 2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

God’s Word is Holy, full of life, and cannot be broken. God’s promises are yes, but what is needed is us to agree with us, for the word Amen literally means: ‘so be it!’. When we pray the Word, we are declaring the decrees of God, and God watches over His Word to perform it in our lives, as long as we continue to walk in belief (faith). Yet, when we speak idle, non productive, fluffy words, we actually destroy the very belief that will produce everything we need for life and godliness.

I realize this to be true, and made a quality decision to submit to the discipline of the Holy Spirit in this area, and allow Him to align my words to His Word, in this area.
words0

This has taken radical change, in literally shutting off the cell phone, and surrounding myself with much solitude, so that I can deliberately, carefully pray and hear His wisdom for my specific life, and to carefully create prayer lists and proclamations as to what I want to happen in my life. Then, Holy Spirit gives me wisdom on how to bring it to pass.

I could craft a neat prayer and confession from what I have just taught here, but I am going to let you do it. Just reading this teaching will not do you the good you need, unless you make a quality decision to actually take control of your words on a daily basis. If you do, Holy Spirit will appear on the scene to help us, and there is much more revelation in the Word along these lines to help us.

Like Nike says in their ad, ‘Just Do it!’
just do it

Let’s Pray:
Lets pray

‘Father, ambassadors speak the words of the government they represent. I want to represent You well, and establish and increase Your kingdom here in the earth, through my life, only doing what You want me to do. Please Sir, have Holy Spirit breath through me, Your Words, not mine. Set a bridle on my tongue to not speak foolish, vain, lying, unproductive words today, and every day, for the rest of my life. I ask this Father, knowing I am heard and answered, for I have submitted to Your Lordship Jesus, and ask in Your name. Amen’

Using Our Words to Heal Our Marriage

Using our Words to Fix our marriages

marriage Jesus

I read this quote, and it made me think about my marriage, and how, over 18 years, we have allowed little compromises in our faith, to work on eroding the love between us. Yes, there are very real issues that need to be addressed, but for those of us who know and understand how our faith and authority are supposed to work in every arena of life, we need to be using our faith by our words, on purpose, in our marriage.

Here’s the quote:

In order to uncover the processes that destroy unions, marital researchers study couples over the course of years, and even decades, and retrace the star-crossed steps of those who have split up back to their wedding day. What they are discovering is unsettling. None of the factors one would guess might predict a couple’s durability actually does: not how in love a newlywed couple say they are; how much affection they exchange; how much they fight or what they fight about. In fact, couples who will endure and those who won’t look remarkably similar in the early days.

Yet when psychologists Cliff Notarius of Catholic University and Howard Markman of the University of Denver studied newlyweds over the first decade of marriage, they found a very subtle but telling difference at the beginning of the relationships. Among couples who would ultimately stay together, 5 out of every 100 comments made about each other were putdowns. Among couples who would later split, 10 of every 100 comments were insults. That gap magnified over the following decade, until couples heading downhill were flinging five times as many cruel and invalidating comments at each other as happy couples. “Hostile putdowns act as cancerous cells that, if unchecked, erode the relationship over time,” says Notarius, who with Markman co-authored the new book We Can Work It Out. “In the end, relentless unremitting negativity takes control and the couple can’t get through a week without major blowups.”

U.S. News & World Report, February 21, 1994, p. 67
love poured in

Since ‘love covers a multitude of sins’, there comes a place where we need to deliberately activate the love of God in our homes, so that our faith, the muscle of God can work. Gal 5:6 ‘faith which worketh by love.’

What if we deliberately decided to love our spouses, as an act of worship towards God, no matter how much they fail us, disappoint us, and let us down, then, on purpose, choose to believe the opposite of what we are currently experiencing in our marriage, but claiming the promises of God for our marriage.

Faith calls those things that be not, as though they are.
overcome evil cave

This, I believe, is where we truly overcome evil with good.

So, let’s pray:

‘Father, I need Your love flowing through me to truly love my spouse today, yet you have promised that it shall be shed abroad in my heart, by the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit love my spouse through me today, to bless, empower, encourage, and equip them to become more like Jesus, in strength, honor, holiness, passion, and fire today.’

By faith I declare: I have a terrific marriage, for I serve Jesus, and my marriage is supposed to look like His love for His Bride, the church.

I declare: I believe that Jesus is working to will and to do of His good pleasure in my spouse, transforming them into the person of excellence and honor He has created them to be.

I declare that He who began a good work in my spouse, is faithful to complete it, in Christ Jesus.

I declare that I forgive all past failures of my spouse, and I refuse to stonewall, despise, or manipulate them in any way, but will love, honor and respect them for Jesus sake.

I declare that God is free to work on me, to make me more like Jesus, removing my negativity, bitterness, hopelessness, despair, and all sickness of heart, where I have given up on my marriage in any way. I receive Jesus as my healer.

While there is more that I could write today, this should be a good start….
