Spiritual Keys to a Regional Move of God

Spiritual Keys to a Regional Move of God

Special Thanks to Margaret Hawthorne at Victory Christian Center, for showing the ‘Transformation’ video’s by George Otis, Jr, that document moves of God around the world. As I  reread the companion book, ‘Informed Intercession’ I came across the five keys to community transformation that seemed to occur in every case, where there is a regional move of the Holy Spirit, causing an entire community to come to Christ!

Here is an excerpt from the book that seems relevant:

Were there any common themes where there has been transformation? Here are 5 things that happens in every case.

Persevering leadership
(Neh. 6:1-16 Now it came to pass, when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had builded the wall, and that there was no breach left therein; (though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gates;) 2 That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief. 3 And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you? 4 Yet they sent unto me four times after this sort; and I answered them after the same manner. 5 Then sent Sanballat his servant unto me in like manner the fifth time with an open letter in his hand; 6 Wherein was written, It is reported among the heathen, and Gashmu saith it, that thou and the Jews think to rebel: for which cause thou buildest the wall, that thou mayest be their king, according to these words. 7 And thou hast also appointed prophets to preach of thee at Jerusalem, saying, There is a king in Judah: and now shall it be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together. 8 Then I sent unto him, saying, There are no such things done as thou sayest, but thou feignest them out of thine own heart. 9 For they all made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the work, that it be not done. Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands. 10 Afterward I came unto the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabeel, who was shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay thee; yea, in the night will they come to slay thee. 11 And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who is there, that, being as I am, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in. 12 And, lo, I perceived that God had not sent him; but that he pronounced this prophecy against me: for Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him. 13 Therefore was he hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and that they might have matter for an evil report, that they might reproach me. 14 My God, think thou upon Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and on the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear. 15 So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days. 16 And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard thereof, and all the heathen that were about us saw these things, they were much cast down in their own eyes: for they perceived that this work was wrought of our God.)
Despite all the distractions sent by his enemies, Nehemiah remained on task, unswerving to the right or the left, focussed on rebuilding the wall.

Fervent, united prayer (Jon 3:5-10 So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. 6 For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes. 7 And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water: 8 But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands. 9 Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? 10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.)
Social reconciliation (Matt 5:23, 24 So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. 10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.

Matt. 18:15-20 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. 16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. 17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican. 18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. 19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.)

Public power encounters (Acts 9:32-35 And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints which dwelt at Lydda. 33 And there he found a certain man named Æneas, which had kept his bed eight years, and was sick of the palsy. 34 And Peter said unto him, Æneas, Jesus Christ maketh thee whole: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately. 35 And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord.)

Diagnostic research/spiritual mapping (Joshua 18:8-10 And the men arose, and went away: and Joshua charged them that went to describe the land, saying, Go and walk through the land, and describe it, and come again to me, that I may here cast lots for you before the LORD in Shiloh. 9 And the men went and passed through the land, and described it by cities into seven parts in a book, and came again to Joshua to the host at Shiloh. 10 And Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before the LORD: and there Joshua divided the land unto the children of Israel according to their divisions.)

I am deliberately working on the third and fourth points of this:

Social Reconciliation, as we performed 40 days of prayer against racism, and an eyewitness reenactement of the Tulsa Race Riots.

Spiritual Mapping: Perhaps tomorrow, I will post some information on spiritual mapping: what it is, how it works, and how to transform your community in Jesus with it!

Let’s Pray:
“Father, pour out Holy Spirit again. Holy Spirit, River of God, come in power, with signs, wonders, and notable miracles. Heal our hearts, bring life from the dead in our dry and weary places, we cry out that You awaken us to our HUNGER that only You can satisfy. Meet with us in savage inbreakings of Your love, deep intimate encounters, that meet our deepest needs. We need You Lord Jesus, teach us to flow in You in love, grace and obedience, AMEN!’

Jesus’ Final Orders to His Disciples
Matt 28:16 Then the 11 disciples went to Galilee. They went to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him. But some still had their doubts.
18 Then Jesus came to them. He said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 So you must go and make disciples of all nations. Baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And you can be sure that I am always with you, to the very end.”
Matthew 16:20 (The Voice)
With Peter’s confession that Jesus is the Anointed One, the foundation of the church is laid. In the days ahead, the church will storm the gates of hell and nothing will be able to stop it. No darkness, no doubt, no deception—not even death will be able to stand against it. And Jesus ordered His disciples to keep these teachings secret. Jesus: You must tell no one that I am the Anointed.
I am reading a wonderful book entitled, Turning the World Upside Down, Discipling the Nations with the Seven Mountain Strategy, by Michael Maiden.
In it, he reviews the seven mountains of God, or kingdoms to which we must bring the Lordship, and rulership of Jesus.
These seven mountains are: Family, Church, Business, Government, Education, Arts/Entertainment, and Media.
One of my personal passions is the topic of ‘governmental prayer’, or exercising God’s authority over the nations (ethnos) through faith and authority, in declaring the decrees of the Word of God, and watching God manifest His Word, with signs following.
In Michael’s chapter on the church, he brings several wonderful examples from the Roman Empire. I am going to steal one of them here, as it is too good to not share, but the entire book, is a ‘Must Read’.
On Page 72, we read, ‘The word church in the Greek, is the word ecclesia, which means ‘called out ones’. It can be no coincidence that the Romans used this same word for the group of indigenous people they selected from each conquered province to take to Rome for training. In Rome, the ecclesiasts sat at the feet of Caesar and the Senate to learn the workings and culture of the Roman Empire. After experiencing Roman society and coming to understand the laws and ways of Rome, these members of the ecclesia were returned to their homes to spread Roman culture throughout their provinces.
The ecclesia model is obviously Jesus intention for the Church. His plan is to summon people (ecclesiasts) from the seven mountains of culture. They are to ‘sit at His feet’ through the ministry of apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, and evangelists to learn the power and culture of the Kingdom of Heaven. Then, they are to return to (or find) their positions in the seven mountains of culture, to bring God’s kingdom to their places of influence’
This is a wonderful illustration, as we literally bring heaven to earth, redeeming not only individual people, but tribes and languages, that entire ethnos become transformed, redeemed, with the Word of God, and the atmosphere, or culture of heaven.
Heaven’s culture, is love….
Been thinking about that concept, how first the kingdom of God comes to us, and grows within, then flows without.
Luke 17:21
Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
Seems that the parable of the sower, is our hearts, where the Kingdom of God, grows inside of us, as we grow in the Word of God, and faith, obedience, fruit of the Spirit, and corresponding authority.
Galatians 4:1
King James Version (KJV)
4 Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all;
We begin as spiritual children, then grow in grace and knowledge of Jesus and His kingdom, and ask we do, He changes our hearts, and turns up the volume and power upon our words.
As He does, and we learn to walk in His authority, we begin to see evil literally stopped when we pray and command it to stop, and heaven’s blessings literally descend upon the earth, as we declare the Word of God, in obedience and timing.
Job 22:28
Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
As we are transformed inside, and our mind is renewed, our obedience is perfected we develop:
2 Corinthians 10:6
And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
We learn that apart from Him we can do nothing, but as our kingdom responsibilities increase, so does our corresponding authority, to exercise His authority in our lives, and in the communities (ethnos) or nations where we are called to serve.
This growth will continue, until Jesus comes, and I’m sure, throughout eternity:
Ephesians 4:13-16
New Living Translation (NLT)
13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.
14 Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. 15 Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. 16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.
Seems the kingdom of God first increases IN us, then as we are transformed, it increases THROUGH us.
Kingdom Inside Increase = Kingdom Outside Increase!
Yes, we must learn of the King and His Kingdom, His royal culture, will, decrees and commandments; but then, we must take what we have learned, back to our own people, in power, authority, love and great wisdom directly from His throne.

There is militancy about this process. To continue in Michaels illustrations of the Roman Empire, there was a saying: “Veni, vidi, vici” which simply translates as “We came, we saw, we conquered!”

This was the heart of Rome, and is the heart of Jesus for His church.
We are to aggressively take the gospel, and His kingdom to the nations of the earth for is it not written:

Luke 19:13
And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.
There is a work to be done, a job to be completed, as we in humility, tears, love, and mercy, seek to articulate the higher precepts, concepts, and culture of heaven, into the cultures to which we have been sent.
I love what one instructor taught in missions school:
‘The job of modern missions, is NOT to bring our Western version of the gospel to unreached people groups as some have suggested, rather, we go to those people, and humbly endeavor to learn their culture, language, traditions, and ways, to discover the ways that God has already visited that people, and use these as entry points to reveal Jesus and the Word of God to them’
This is my heart, and takes much prayer, and study of the not only the letter of the Word of God, but often the spirit and intent of particular passages.
Let us continue to grow in our particular gifts, and grow, go, and flow in the Holy Spirit.
Let’s Pray:

“Father, speak to us today, grow, train, equip, and transform us, deep within. May we be fully obedient in seeking You with our whole heart, during this season of our lives, going into our worlds in obedience to You and Your Word. Holy Spirit, flow through us, in wisdom, teaching, preaching, prayer, and Your authority, that we might be used in this generation to exercise Your authority to declare Your decrees, and see Your signs, wonders, and miracles in our generation. In Your name I pray Lord Jesus, Amen’
