Author Background:

Bradford Humes Young, also known as Brad Young, is a professor of Biblical Literature in Judeo Christian Studies at the Graduate Department of Oral Roberts University (ORU). He is also founder and president of the Gospel Research Foundation, Inc.

After receiving his B.A. from ORU, Young departed Tulsa for Israel. At the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, he pursued graduate studies in early Christianity and ancient Judaism. During that time he lectured at the American Institute of Holy Land Studies, served as Research Assistant to Prof. David Flusser, and earned two degrees, an M.A. and Ph.D. from the Hebrew University. He is one of the founding scholars of the Jerusalem School of Synoptic Studies, working closely on Gospel research with Flusser and Dr. Robert L. Lindsey. He has contributed to scholarly journals and has spoken at many academic, church, interfaith, and civic gatherings.

Content Summary:

In this book the author introduces Jesus, the Jew, as a theologian, with more depth and insight into the things of God, than even the apostle Paul. His premise, is that the Western view of the gospel in many cases has strayed from its clearly Jewish roots, that Jesus taught the principals of His Kingdom, uncluttered with traditions such as Christmas, Easter, or other traditional Christian events. Jesus was raised in Torah, as a traditional Jew during the second temple period.

“Jesus must be understood as a Jewish theologian. His theology is Jewish to the core. The tragic history of the relationship between Judaism and Christianity, makes it extremely to hear his forceful voice. The attacks of the church against the synagogue have stripped Jesus of his religious heritage. As Christians we have been taught wrong prejudices about Jews and Judaism. Hatred for the Jewish people has erected a barrier separating Jesus from His theology. Ethnically he may be considered a Jew, but religiously he remains a Christian who failed to reform the corrupt religious system of the Jews. Such an approach fails: Jesus is Jewish both in his ethnic background and in his religious thought and practice.”(xxxiv)
This critique will look at the authors success in fulfilling this premise, and more importantly for this author, the impact of this research on the Christian theology practiced, in light of the truth the historic, actual Jesus taught. In the mind of this reader then, it is a search for the deeper things of God, a search for truth, whatever the consequences of these truths might produce both personally, and in future ministerial endeavors.

The book is delineated into five main subdivisions, each of which bring historic light and truth to many areas of standard Christian understanding and practice.

These divisions are:

1. The Messianic Drama of Jesus Life Events – The author brings the reader into several arena’s of Jewish thought – they were expecting a Messiah, and by His very literal fulfillment of Messianic prophecy and action, Jesus life became a fulfillment of what Messiah had to be.

  1. The Jewish Roots of Jesus Kingdom Theology – Chapters 5-11- In the Jewish Shema, any orthodox Jew submits to the Lordship, or kingship of God in their life. In this section the author shows the kingdom of God alive and active in the earthly ministry and theology of Jesus, violently breaking forth through John the Baptist, illustrated through his parables, through the Jewish understanding of rabbis being peacemakers, both between men and God, and amongst themselves. He then shows us the beautiful simplicity of the kingdom revealed through simple childlike faith, in their sense of awe and wonder. He then uses the Sabbath, as an entry point to discuss the difference between the letter and the spirit or intent of the law – Jesus did not break the Sabbath, He fulfilled it, for the Sabbath was given for man, not man for the Sabbath. The author touches on the heart of Jewish understanding of the difficult topic of divorce and adultery, and Jesus instruction, or intention here, and completes this discussion of the kingdom among us, with the giving of thanks, as a way of life.
  2. The Jewish Theology in Jesus Parables – Here the author presents some animated thought in the grace seen through Jewish culture and tradition in the teaching of Jesus parables, a very beautiful look at the parable we call the prodigal son, the ‘old wine’ of Torah, friends and enemies seen in parables, and Chutzpah! This speaks boldly to this reader – that which I call ‘the spirit of faith’. (https://chrisaomministries.com/2017/02/18/the-spirit-of-faith-5/)
  3. The Jewish Messiah and the Politics of Rome – In this section, we are introduced to the foundations of the kingdom – the introduction to the deeper discussion provoked by Jesus simple two questions posed to Peter in Matt 16:18 – ‘Who do men say I am?’ and more importantly for Peter, and you and I, ‘Who do you say I am?’. The author then looks at the mystery of the transfiguration, challenging the thought that the appearance of Moses and Elijah there was not Jesus literally fulfilling the law (Moses) and the prophets (Elijah), as I have always taught, rather that they appear to fulfill their commissions as two prophets, the prophets of salvation (208). We then dig into the investigation of the Son or the Vineyard in what is commonly called the parable of the Vineyard, to refute common anti-Semitic teaching from the main-line Christian church. In the final chapter in this section, the author addresses the question: ‘Who really killed Jesus?’, Rome, or the Jews? He argues persuasively that since Rome held the power to execute, and aggressively stomped any leader that might rally the Jews and rebel against Roman rule, that Pilate was far more guilty of Jesus death, than the traditional Christian teaching of blaming the Jews solely.
  4. The Future Messiah – Son of Man? Is Jesus human or divine? The focus here is as Jesus, as Messiah, revealed as the son of man.

Evaluation

The first four chapters of the text discuss the Messianic nature of Jesus life and ministry. The author speaks of how Jewish scholars might view the song of the angels sung at Jesus birth. He argues that a distinction must be made here between ‘men of goodwill’ and ‘goodwill to all men’ and that the latter is the correct translation. God’s will is the highest and best for not only the Jew, but for all humanity, for God is good, kind and merciful.

What is find very interesting in this chapter is thoughts of how this threefold declaration given to us in Luke 2:14, immediately draws my thoughts to the Trinity, and the parallel made to Is 6, even more so.

One – The Birth of the Messiah and the Song of the Angels
In researching Luke 2:14, the author clearly shows how the distinction of translation must be made from ‘goodwill towards (all) men’ vs ‘to men of goodwill’, arguing that the birth of the Messiah is good news to all of humanity, not merely to those attempting to do right before God. We see this angelic song then, in three parts: 1. “Glory to God in the Highest” 2. “On earth peace”  3. “Goodwill towards men” (7)

glory-to-god-luke-2-14

The author documents this song of the angels at the birth of Jesus, as being similar to the text of Is 6:3, when the angels before the throne of God cry out “Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is filled with his glory.” . He notes how Flusser has compared the threefold song in Luke 2:14, with insight from the Aramaic Targum describing the ancient Jewish understanding of Isaiah’s text that remarkably parallels Luke 2:14.

Again a three part structure is seen: 1. “Holy is the highest heaven, the house of his presence.”

  1. “Holy upon the earth, the work of His might”
  2. “Holy for endless ages, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of the brightness of his glory.” (8)Could this three-fold interpretation again refer to the Trinity?

Like the often taught interpretation of  Genesis 1:26

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.
us-image
“When used of the true God, “Elohim” denotes what is called by linguists a plural of majesty, honor, or fullness. That is, he is GOD in the fullest sense of the word. He is “GOD of gods” or literally, “ELOHIM of elohim” (Deut 10:17; Ps 136:2)”[1]

God the Father revealed in the first ‘Holy’, in the highest heaven, in the house of His presence. Holy Spirit, Emmanuel, upon the earth, revealing His might and Jesus as captain of the Lord’s host, the whole earth revealing the brightness of His glory.

Some years ago, this author participated in a large worship service, with a well known minister. As we sung the familiar chorus of ‘Hallelujah’ repeatedly, the minister read Is 6, and claimed to actually see these angels forever circling the actual throne of God in worship. That as they worshipped, they sang their first ‘Holy’ to God the Father, their second ‘Holy’ to God the Son, and their third ‘Holy’ to God the Holy Spirit, and as they again sang: God, who is infinite, gave to them yet another facet of His beauty, greatness and majesty that they had never seen before, causing them to fall again at His feet, and cry “Holy, Holy, Holy”. This bore witness to me as I have groped for understanding of the Trinity over the years, and has stuck with me (perhaps subjectively) from the depth of the presence of God clearly present in that particular service.[2]

I agree with the author’s conclusive research here: God is good, and through Jesus, His goodwill is expressed to all men.

Chapter Two – the Baptism of Messiah – The presentation of Jesus and discussion of the Dove

In Western thought, we often use the text in Luke 3:21-22 as a proof text of the doctrine of the Trinity. In this book however, the author takes us into ancient Jewish thought, comparing this event with Ps 2:7, explaining the Jewish concept of ‘the presentation of the Messiah’.  While the doctrine of the Trinity is not in question, we are studying the historical Jesus here, Jewish Jesus, Messiah, the fulfillment of Torah. Clearly, then, this is a better translation of the thought intended in the spirit of the text: Messiah has come! During baptism, he is presented, announced by heaven! To the Jew, longingly awaiting the coming of Messiah, this must have been a tremendous experience as God’s anointed was confirmed by heaven, publically!

The author then begins a discourse on the dove, in Jewish thought, and clearly shows that mention of the dove does not always refer to the Holy Spirit as traditional Western thought declares. Sometimes it refers to the nation of Israel (20, note 14, Ex 14:9-14)

The Jewish thought of ‘bat kol’, the echo, or daughter voice of God, was likened to the sound of chirping or cooing of a dove. (19, note 12)

This Jewish thought adds much depth and beautiful thought to the voice of God echoing from heaven at the baptism of Jesus, with the presence of the dove.

Though the author does not mention it, one cannot help but think about the dove of Genesis 8:11

‘The dove came to him toward evening, and behold, in her beak was a freshly picked olive leaf. So Noah knew that the water was abated from the earth.’

dove-hope

Here we see this verse depicted often, of God’s everlasting covenant towards men, through Noah, His goodness and mercy expressed to all humanity, through the beautiful picture of a dove with a fresh picked olive leaf in her beak. Could it be right to infer from this verse, and the reference of the author to Israel being the dove, or perhaps even the olive branch, that through Israel and the Jewish people, God offers peace and mercy towards all the earth and the people who live upon it?

Genesis 18:18 since Abraham will surely become a great and mighty nation, and in him all the nations of the earth will be blessed?

Chapter Three – The Temptation of Jesus  –

In this chapter the author brings the Jewish perspective of Jesus temptation, reminding us of Deut 8:2-3, where the children of Israel were tested by God in the desert. Clearly, the testing of Jesus was real, and in his humanity, He passed! (29)
Chapter 4 – Miracles, Proclamation, and Healing Faith – Clearly Jewish people believe in miracles, and divine healing. The Scriptures are full of the accounts of Moses, Elijah, Elisha performing healing miracles and demonstrating the power of God over weather. The Jewish scholar speaks of ‘Charismatic Judaism’ and we are give the beautiful account of Abba Chilkiah, the grandson of Choni the circle drawer, as also being given the gift of answered prayer for rain. He is a humble man, and to avoid drawing attention to himself, claims it was his wife’s prayers that were answered miraculously, not his own.( 36,37)

In the Scripture, we see rain as a blessing from God in many cases. [3]

rain-blessing

Deut 11:14 “I will send rain on your land in its season, both autumn and spring rains, so that you may gather in your grain, new wine and oil.”

Is 45:8″Drip down, O heavens, from above, And let the clouds pour down righteousness; Let the earth open up and salvation bear fruit, And righteousness spring up with it. I, the LORD, have created it

Hebrews 6:7 For ground that drinks the rain which often falls on it and brings forth vegetation useful to those for whose sake it is also tilled, receives a blessing from God;

Job 5:10 “He gives rain on the earth And sends water on the fields.

Jer 14:22 Are there any among the idols of the nations who give rain? Or can the heavens grant showers? Is it not You, O LORD our God? Therefore we hope in You, For You are the one who has done all these things. Are there any among the idols of the nations who give rain? Or can the heavens grant showers? Is it not You, O LORD our God? Therefore we hope in You, For You are the one who has done all these things.
blessing-of-rain
As we have travelled to Native American lands, we have seen supernatural rain occur many times as a direct answer to prayer, with rainbows often appearing over revival tent meetings, that we interpreted as God Himself smiling upon our events.

rainbow

More recently, during the inauguration of President Trump, a gentle rain began to fall. Franklin Graham rightly interpreted this as God’s blessing on this particular land, we call the United States of America.
Is it any wonder then, that almost every Native American tribe has fallen in love with Israel, and that yesterday, with President Trump meeting with Prime Minister Netanyahu and pledging US support for Israel, that we experienced a gentle rain, watering the earth?

The chapter in the book, outlining marriage and adultery from both the Jewish background, and in Jesus further teaching on the topic is wonderful as far as it goes, yet as I have attempted to understand the various Christian denominational positions on the difficult topic of Biblical divorce and remarriage, it would seem that a deeper study of this important topic would be critical for my own understanding. Clearly, the Jewish culture has some clear process for this event that might provide a firm pillar as the other positions denominationally taught are more fully researched.
Chapter 20 introduces a challenge to traditional Christian interpretation of Jesus parable of the wicked husbandman (215). It appears the author has written another book on the parables of Jesus, that just got bumped on to my ‘required reading’ list, as a topic for further research, for this simple reason: I love Israel and the Jewish people. I have been to Rwanda, and have visited the genocide memorial there, and seen artifacts and film footage of the Holocaust, and the anti-Semitic cries of the Nazi murderers, calling the Jewish people ‘Christ Killers!’. The heartbreak is, this is not unlike the damnable heresy called, ‘apartheid’ that caused untold suffering in South Africa, or the teaching of ‘manifest destiny’ taught here in America that caused the genocide of the large majority of native Americans living here at the time. These atrocities were performed in the name of the Christian religion, and were taught first to people by supposed Christian ministers! This is far from the heart of Jesus the Jew.

In conclusion, I believe the author did an excellent job in presenting the true historical Jesus, fully Jewish, and introducing to us the need to more fully understand the theology of Jesus from a Jewish standpoint.

The Spirit of Faith!

The Spirit of Faith!

Read with me: 1 Thessalonians 3:10 Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?

This is the heart of any true minister. You need faith for your marriage, faith for protection, faith to receive wisdom and revelation from God. Faith to eat your meals, faith to raise your family, faith to provide for your family. Faith to be a good steward over your money.

The Bible says: 2 Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

Acts 16:5 And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.

I want God’s church to grow, so I must continue to preach the Word to you, because faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Some of you need faith just to get to church every Sunday. Well,

Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. Or if you want a teaching on it: https://chrisaomministries.wordpress.com/2014/12/04/why-go-to-church/
https://chrisaomministries.com/2016/04/15/eagles-still-go-to-church/

You now see that regular church attendance is actually in the Word of God, so now, you simply have to agree with the Word, for faith came when you heard it, now do what you believe!

Romans 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
faith

Once you recognize that your very world is framed by the Word of God, you will have no problem getting to church to hear the good word of God.

Why?

Well, I’m commanded by God to 1 Peter 5:2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind

;feed

Now, if you understand that your life is going to be adversely or positively affected according to your hearing of the Word of God, you will reprioritize some things. ‘Seek ye first’is still in the book, not in a legalistic sense but so that God can add all things unto you.

2 Corinthians 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

2 Corinthians 4:13 (BBE) But having the same spirit of faith, as it is said in the Writings, The words of my mouth came from the faith in my heart; in the same way, our words are the outcome of our faith;

faith voice

Romans 4:17 ¶ (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

Romans 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

Throughout the week, I spend countless hours praying out mysteries in other tongues, for you.

1 Corinthians 14:19 Yet in the church I had rather speak five words with my understanding, that by my voice I might teach others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

tongues1

Why, because faith comes by hearing.

Matthew 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

My question to you today is what do you believe about your life? Like that old comedy:”Doom misery and despair, if I didn’t have bad luck I’d have no luck at all?”

Like Eeyor in Winnie the Poor, are you down at the mouth, just barely getting by?

eeyore

Well, you’re carnal then. The children of Israel died in the desert by grumbling and complaining. What are you doing day to day? Calling those things that are not as though they were? Standing boldly on the promises of God, more than a conquerer in Him? Or like the ten spies, do you have grasshopper mentality, all your problems are giants in the land? Where are the Joshua’s and Calebs of this generation who will stand up and boldly declare the victory Jesus bought and paid for in His own blood?

I like the statement I read of the Moravian Christians that went as missionaries to the Virgin Islands to bring the gospel to the slaves there, knowing that it may cost them their lives, that they might need to become slaves themselves, in order to reach the slaves there.

They prayed, “Dear Lord, that we might grant you a reward worthy of Your sufferings..”

reward

They had such a deep revelation of the depths to which Jesus went for us, when He died upon the cross for all mankind, in light of eternity, no sacrifice was too great, in comparison of what He did, to redeem people back to Himself.

Faith, established upon the promises of God despises obstacles. He is the resurrection and the life. He is Almighty God, Creator of Heaven and earth, He lives, and He reigns.

Lets see this spirit of faith in action in the Word of God

David

david

Did David say to Goliath, “You big mighty man of war. You fearsome giant, and undefeated warrior?”

Not!

He was so in tune with His walk with the Lord, and the promises of God, He saw the problem from God’s perspective. ‘Who is this uncircumcised Philistine to raise up against the army of Almighty God?’

He saw himself from God’s perspective, with a covenant with God.

He saw Goliath from God’s perspective, without protection, and without a covenant.

Can’t you see, this man is without protection, and He dares to raise His hand against God? This should be fun, what’s in it for the man who chops off his head?

Did he run from the giant? No! He ran to him! Faith is not waiting for Jesus to come and deliver them but enforcing Jesus victory in every arena of life.

What about Jonathon?

jonathon

1 Samuel 14:1 ¶ Now it came to pass upon a day, that Jonathan the son of Saul said unto the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over to the Philistines’ garrison, that is on the other side. But he told not his father.

14 And that first slaughter, which Jonathan and his armourbearer made, was about twenty men, within as it were an half acre of land, which a yoke of oxen might plow.

15 And there was trembling in the host, in the field, and among all the people: the garrison, and the spoilers, they also trembled, and the earth quaked: so it was a very great trembling.

16 ¶ And the watchmen of Saul in Gibeah of Benjamin looked; and, behold, the multitude melted away, and they went on beating down one another.

One man, with God, walking by faith got victory over an entire enemy nation. Why, because when he did in the natural, God did in the supernatural,

and:

15 And there was trembling in the host, in the field, and among all the people: the garrison, and the spoilers, they also trembled, and the earth quaked: so it was a very great trembling.

God backed up Jonathon, and the earth quaked.

Where are the giant killers today?

The David’s that will look enemies in the eye and tell these mountains to move?

The Jonathon’s that will take the battle to the enemy, not run from it or pretend it doesn’t need to be fought!

He went to the enemy, and he won.

How about the three Hebrew children? Let’s pick up their story in the midst of their challenge.
furnace

Danial 3:10 Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall fall down and worship the golden image:

11 And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.

12 There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

13 Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king.

14 Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?

15 Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?

Notice the attack is against the glory of God, we must keep our attackers focused on Him, not us.

16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.

Spirit of Faith – They knew God, and knew He would deliver them!

17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.

17 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

If you throw us in the furnace O king, God will deliver us and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king.

That kind of stand of faith will really tick a controlling person off. They think they are in charge.

19 ¶ Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.

20 And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.

21 Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

22 Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

Enemies were destroyed in their own flames.

No weapon formed against you shall prosper.

23 And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

24 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.

25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

In your trial of faith, in the firey furnace of your affliction, the object of your faith will appear!

fourth man

Jesus, your Lord and your king, shows up, for He will never leave you or forsake you. When He does, you get delivered for God acts!

26 Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire.

26 And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.

The kingdoms of this world become the kingdoms of our God and of His Christ. Kings come to the light of God’s glory.

Isaiah 60:3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

10 And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee.

1 Peter 4:13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. (God shows up, you get delivered, and yes, you get really grateful and glad!)

1 Peter 4:14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

27 ¶ Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.

29 Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.

God gets the glory, you get the promotion, and the real purpose of your trial is revealed – the harvest! God has eternity on His mind, and we are the only hope this generation has. Sometimes we go through things at the hands of satan and wicked people, that God allows for a season to perfect us, glorify Him, and most importantly, allow others to come into the kingdom of God.

2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon.

Notice the gospel was preached by the government as a result of the stand of faith of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. They did not bow, they did not burn, and the entire nation came back to God through their stand of faith, and they were promoted!

Ps 75:5 Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck.

6 ¶ For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.

7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

promotion

So who are you anyway? A grumbler, destined to spend forty years in the desert in despair, or more than a conquerer in Christ Jesus?

You can choose what you are going to do right now, COMPLAIN AND REMAIN (In your present trial), or PRAISE AND BE RAISED (seeing the power of God make your mess a miracle!) Praise Him in the midst of your madness, and He will deliver you!

Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

Jesus made it plain,

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

So your bills look like they have you whipped? Are they a mountain of bills yet? God said something about mountains in Mark 11:24. Are you down so low you have to look up to see bottom? Not! Never! You are the head and not the tail, a child of the king, made to sit with Him in heavenly places. There is no circumstance that can lord over you, unless you let it. Whatever your circumstance is, get over it with the Word of God.

Jesus is your Lord, and He has the final say.

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

If it is in the world, your faith in God is well able to whip it. Are you a grasshopper? Or are you well able to take the land?

Stand in the presence of our king, and let’s reaffirm our faith in Him again.

I don’t care what your bankbook says:

God says:

Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

2 Corinthians 8:7 Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.

2 Corinthians 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

You are a giver aren’t you?

Let’s believe the Word together!

The Bible says now 1 Corinthians 16:13 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Isaiah 35:4 Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.

Now how are we to be strong, when we feel so weak?

In the Lord, using our faith-filled words!

Mark 11:22-25New King James Version (NKJV)

22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

I am a whosoever, and so are you! (https://chrisaomministries.wordpress.com/2013/11/12/mountain-moving-faith/)

We are mountain-moving, history making disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ!

Joel 3:10 Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.

mountain-moving-faith3

You say it, and God will back you up, and you will be strong.

Is 53:4 ¶ Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Thank you Father, we were healed. We believe it and receive it, now, by faith.

Now normally, I end these exhortations with a prayer, but not today. The Word of the Lord given to me by the Holy Spirit is PRAISE!

Ps 67:5 Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.

6 Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us.

Praise is the weapon of the day, the key to unlock our victory, today.

Hurting, discouraged, feeling beat? Been there, done that…

Sing!

I don’t care if you are choking on every word join me:

‘We bring the sacrifice of praise, into the house of the Lord’

‘We bring the sacrifice of praise, into the house of the Lord’

‘And we offer up to You, the sacrifices of thanksgiving’

‘And we offer up to You, the sacrifices of joy!’

Praise paralyses devils, it is the shout of victory that overcomes the world, for God inhabits the praises of His people!

I remember hearing a testimony of a women doctor, dying of cancer and a heroin addiction named Dr. Lillian Yeoman. She had been asking God to heal her, and bringing His promises of healing before Him in prayer, yet was still dying. One night, lying on her pain-wracked bed, she had a vision, that changed her life. She saw a balance, with one side that was labeled PRAYER, and the other side PRAISE. The side that was labeled PRAYER was weighted down completely, while there was nothing on the praise side to counter-balance the load. She claimed she heard the voice of God speak to her, to PRAISE, and that when the weight of her praise, equaled the weight of her prayer, she would be miraculously healed. So, she began to sing praises to God, like a croak at first, but as she gave herself to it, she began to get stronger, and her voice clearer. She stayed with it, until she literally sang herself off of that deathbed, totally healed of cancer, and totally delivered of her heroin addiction.

praise

He is worthy!

Give in faith!

1 Corinthians 9:11 If we have sown [the seed of] spiritual good among you, [is it too] much if we reap from your material benefits?

1 Corinthians 9:14 [On the same principle] the Lord directed that those who publish the good news (the Gospel) should live (get their maintenance) by the Gospel.

Paul goes on to say, that he did not use his position as a minister of the gospel to take up offerings, rather he worked, making tents, to support himself. You might notice here, that Paul was not married, nor did he have children. Family responsibilities take time, and just as you bust a move on your job to provide for your family, I work every bit as hard, doing this, faithful to the Lord in prayer and the ministry of His Word, to you.

I will never charge for this: it my responsibility to God, my calling. Freely I have been given, now, I freely give…

As you give, hear Holy Spirit what to give, and honestly expect God to reward you for your giving.

Matt 10: 41 He who receives and welcomes and accepts a prophet because he is a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward, and he who receives and welcomes and accepts a righteous man because he is a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward. 42 And whoever gives to one of these little ones [in rank or influence] even a cup of cold water because he is My disciple, surely I declare to you, he shall not lose his reward.

I am a five-fold ministry gift and office – this is my life – I pray, I hear, I write, and wonderful things happen. You have your job description, I have mine – this is mine….

I have ‘see through’ faith for you, in this: Gal 3: 9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

I believe I have a responsibility before God to be like Jesus, in every offering I receive. I receive it with thanksgiving, just like Jesus did the little boys lunch.

Then, because I walk and live by faith according to the blessing of Abraham, I believe that God will take your seed sown, and multiply it, according to what the blessing of Abraham promises:

Genesis 22:17 In blessing I will bless you and in multiplying I will multiply your descendants like the stars of the heavens and like the sand on the seashore. And your Seed (Heir) will possess the gate of His enemies

It has been a joy to me, to see the hand of the living God act in the lives of those of you who have supported us this year!

Many have seen tremendous blessing come into your households, and for this we give thanks, and give Jesus all the glory!

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus! Look up!

He is the WayMaker! John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Is 45:2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the […]

He is the WayMaker!

waymaker
Listen to these verses:

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:

no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

jesus-power

Is 45:2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:

3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.

way1

We serve a living God!

Jesus is not only the only way to the Father, He is the waymaker in our lives!

If you are up against an impossible situation, know that He is alive, active, and in love with you!

I heard a minister say:

2 Cor 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

The promises of God are yes. When God gave them, He backed them up with an oath, and His character. He is holy. He cannot lie. If He said it, He must do it, for His name is at state.

Amen, is our part, where we show that we believe by what we say. The word ‘Amen’ means, ‘so be it!’.

So, 2Co 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

We face a problem, and we go to God with one of His promises.

God answers in power, and delivers us.

bring-glory

This brings Him glory, as the rest of the verse says: ‘unto the glory of God by us.!’

We bring Him glory, how? When we believe a specific promise from His Word, act upon it, and see His power displayed!

Well, I want to bring Him glory today!

I choose to believe that my Shepherd, King Jesus, is going before me today. Making a way, where there seems to be no way. Rivers in the desert, pathways through the seas of my difficulties, not some day, but this day! For He is not the God of I was (the past), nor the God of I will be (the future) but His name is I AM, my ever present help in this time of my need, and yours.

Ps 68:19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah.

benifits

Bless the Lord O my soul, for today, this day, God almighty is visiting my house, and loading me, with benefits. How about you?

Some of you have lost your way. Like Peter walking on the water, all you see is the wind and the waves, the storms and trials of life.

Yet there is one high and lifted up, who walks above the wind and the waves, and we need to turn our eyes unto HIM!

The temptation, the trial, is real, but His Word and Power are available to change it. It is not the end of the road, there is a way, a way of escape!

1 Cor 10: 13

For no temptation (no trial regarded as enticing to sin), [no matter how it comes or where it leads] has overtaken you and laid hold on you that is not common to man [that is, no temptation or trial has come to you that is beyond human resistance and that is not adjusted and adapted and belonging to human experience, and such as man can bear]. But God is faithful [to His Word and to His compassionate nature], and He [can be trusted] not to let you be tempted and tried and assayed beyond your ability and strength of resistance and power to endure, but with the temptation He will [always] also provide the way out (the means of escape to a landing place), that you may be capable and strong and powerful to bear up under it patiently.

way-of-escape

Jesus is the way, and the waymaker – turn your eyes and heart to Him, and HE WILL DELIVER YOU!

Lets pray

Lets Pray:

‘Father, I believe that Jesus is alive in my life, and that He is my Shepherd, and He is Lord! Today, I see You going before me, and making the crooked places straight: You will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:

3 Thank You Father, that you give me today, the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that again I might know that You, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.

I believe that You will load me with benefits today, simply because I believe in You Lord Jesus, for Your name is I AM, my ever-present help in time of need! Thank you again for performing Your Word, and making a way, where there seemed to be no way. AMEN!’

A Place Called There! – Get There!

A place called there! Mt 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Lu 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word […]

A place called there!

place-there

Mt 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Lu 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

In 1997, I left all I knew to be comfortable with, my home, my family, my country, to go to Rhema Bible Training Center here in Tulsa, OK. During that first week, I heard pastor Kenneth Hagin preach a message, that still speaks to me all these years later. The title of his message, was ‘A Place Called There!

We read of the life of the prophet Elijah:

1 Kings 17:4 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.

there-place1

1 Kings 17:9 Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.

Elijah, like every true minister of God, had to discover that his provision, his very life depended upon his specific obedience to God. When God calls you or I, it is to a place called there, and there is always a people on the other side of our obedience.

Elijah prophesied the famine by the Spirit of God, yet that very famine he prophesied would have killed him too (if wicked king Ahab didn’t get him first), had he not specifically obeyed the voice of the Lord, to get to the place of his provision. God had provided for Elijah, in both cases, in the place He sent him, a place called ‘There’.

there

You need to understand that God has provided for you too, but He gives you a command, and your provision a command, and you need to be in the right place at the right time, and when you are, your provision will manifest. It may not be literal ravens bringing you breakfast and supper, but He will send provision, and it usually blows my mind when it shows up.

provision

Like the time I led a missions trip to Arizona, to the Navajo reservation with 17 people. When we had loaded the two trailers we were bringing, and began to pull out, I realized I only had $80 left for gas, food, lodging everything, for the next 10 days. I went home, hit my knees and said ‘Lord, what do I do?’

He said to ‘Take $30 and put it in the offering slot at Victory Christian Center, and put the other $50 into your gas tank’
whatever he says

And so we pulled out of Tulsa, with 3 vehicles and two trailers full of donations for a project we were going to build.

As we started out of town, my cell phone rang, and Dr. Matt Mclure called me and asked: ‘Hey, are you still doing that trip to the Navajo nation?’

“Yes, I answered, we are just pulling out of Tulsa now.”

“Got any room? I just got in from the Sioux reservation and checked my work schedule at the hospital. Seems I am not scheduled this rotation, mind if I come with you?”

“Where are you? Right now?”

“Just off hwy 75 at 121st st in Jenks”

“We are on hwy 75 right now!”

“Can you swing by and pick me up?”

“Sure! My wife is riding with uncle Harry, so you can ride shotgun with me”

So, we picked him up, and when he got in the Jeep, he looked at the gas guage and said: ‘Looks like you have a full tank, you got this one, I’ll get the next one!”

And so it went, the whole trip! I did not have to ask anyone for money, God supernaturally provided, exactly what we needed, exactly when I needed it, because we were in our place called there.

At one point on I-40 we stopped at Dairy Queen (because I needed gas) and had no money. The other two vehicles had gotten ahead of us 30 mins, because I had 3 children, and they had wanted to stretch their legs, so we stopped in Albequerque and hiked up the Petroglyphs.

So there I was, with three tired children that wanted ice cream, and only 1/4 tank of gas, feeling hot, tired, and desperate inside.

This couple approached me, and asked if I would mind if they bought the children ice cream (Yes, God cares about ice cream for children).
homeless

As we visited over an ice cream cone, turns out this couple was named Mike and Julie Pearson, and they were WALKING across America, to raise awareness and support for a homelessness in the US. They were raising support for a ranch, they were trying to build. As we walked out the door, Mike handed me $20, which I immediately put in the gas tank. This got us to Sky City, where God miraculously gave us $60 to fill the tank again.

To this day, I stand in awe of how God provided for this trip, yet He still does it for our family, daily!

Abraham was commanded to sacrifice his son Isaac, where? On mount Moriah, yet at the same time God spoke to Abraham, He also spoke to a ram, to start wandering toward the mountain, and even allowed it to be caught in the bush, taking the fight out of it for Abraham.

Where?

In a place called there!

Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Your provision is not in heaven, but in the earth. Men have it. God knows which men, have your money, food, vehicles, houses, computers, and everything you need to obey Him. His will, is His bill.

Yet, you must give, and obey specifically, what He commands you to do. When you are on the journey of life, in obedience to Him, along the path, He will send men and unlock their hearts to give to you. Our job is to pray, and obey, always, continually putting pressure on promises, never on people. He is well able to wake folks up in the night, and ruin their sleep to get our needs met.

We are required, to give, to hear His voice, to obey, and this will be a life time journey of relationship with Jesus, through the Holy Spirit.

You have been praying, crying out to God for provision, and He has answered, always.

Where?

In your place called ‘There!’.

Sometimes, you gotta move, to move God.

Let’s Pray:

“Father, we believe you love us, and we believe your Word, knowing full well that we do not live by brad alone, but by every Word that proceeds from your mouth. Speak to us Lord Jesus, to get us to the place you have commanded Your blessing and provision, show us where, our place is there, Amen!’

Good and perfect Gifts

Desire good and perfect gifts today!
good-and-perfect
As I have thought about this blog, and all the writing I do for it, I thought: “Why am I doing this?”
why

“What do I want to see happen, as a result of it?”

Suddenly, it was really clear and simple: I would like to encourage, motivate, and inspire people to seek Jesus first, every day, in every decision, and to govern their entire life by the Bible, the Word of God.
put-jesus-1st

Simple: Pray, and read through your Bible every year.

Include God in your life, every day, and do things His way. Not complicated – a way of life, a lifestyle of power, passion and purpose, as we live eternal principals out in this temporal world.

I am inviting you to join me and millions of others, on this journey of faith: follow me, as I follow Christ.
follow1
God is good, and He loves us!

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

God, your Father, loves to give good and perfect gifts to you, His child, and to the earth, His creation, for His very nature is love, generosity, holiness, mercy…

His nature is to give!

For God so loved the world that He gave…

Rom 8: 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

He loves you. He loves us.

What are those good and perfect gifts?
desire

1 Cor 12:31 But covet earnestly the best gifts:
He talks about them in 1 Cor 12, the ministry offices, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

.1Co 14:39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.
1Co 14:1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy

I heard a minister speaking one day on the gifts of the Holy Spirit, and stating, that 1 Cor 12:11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.

Sure these gifts of the Holy Spirit are surely in the earth, ONLY AS HE WILLS, sovereign acts of God from heaven, but have you considered that perhaps ‘He is a lot more willing than people give Him credit for!”
god-gives
Jas 4:5 Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?

Could it be, that Holy Spirit longs to get out of the box, yearning to touch, heal, deliver, destroy devils, and Move Mountains, if we would only ask Him?

Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Where are those, who with passion, fervency, singleness of purpose will press in, crying “Father, demonstrate your power in my life! Pour out your Spirit!

For the record, here are a couple of them you can tune in with and pray with live: http://www.ihopkc.org/prayerroom/

Demonstrate what your Word promises! Father, in this generation, USE ME! If there be anything good coming out of heaven today, may it come upon my life, to my house. Father, I ask you today, for your good and perfect gifts, in Jesus name!”

Cry this out to Him, in passion, fire, and sincerity, and inbox me with the result!

Inward Change Equals Outward Power and Authority!

Inward Change Equals Outward Power and Authority
heart-change
In the following passage, we see Jesus rebuking religious leaders who have added traditions to the Word of God. Yet, He looks beyond the outward observance of religious traditions and gets right to the heart of every human being.

Mark 7:13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
14 And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand:
15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.
16 If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
17 And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.
18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;
19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
23 All these evil things come from within and defile the man.
heart-god-sees
Here is what I have discovered in life: ‘If it is not in you, it won’t come out of you.”

Joh 14:30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

My spiritual gauge for myself and those I work with is the words that we speak.
words
No matter how much of Christian someone pretends to be on Sunday, what are they saying and doing the rest of the week?

Are they cussing, discussing and gossiping?

Are they bitter and thinking evil thoughts, proud, or simply speaking foolishness?

All of these, according to this passage, reveal heart problems and require Holy Ghost heart surgery, and a trip to the cross, where these things die, and we discover the resurrection power of Jesus in that area of our life, empowering us to walk free of our wickedness.
cross1
I have noticed that a Christian Positionally has authority over every demon in hell, but practically only demonstrates that power, in the areas where we don’t yield to those demons. They cannot tempt us with a desire, if that desire no longer exists, it died when it met the cross of Jesus, and so, practically, we exercise dominion over darkness in the areas where we have victory.

keys to kingdom
Notice that our power comes from Jesus, but if you walk with Him awhile, you quickly discover, that an obedient, spirit led life, becomes a powerful life, as His power flows through us:

and having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

Lu 17:21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

God works within us, to purify our very desires in our soulical realm, then uses us to help others in the very areas where we once struggled.

Ro 9:21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honor, and another unto dishonor?

I want to be a pure and holy, vessel of honor, displaying His power and authority to set captives free, and deliver people controlled by demons.

How about you?

Let’s pray:
Father, I see where I still think and speak evil things sometimes. Destroy these things, with your power. Forgive me, Father, now give me the power to forever kill these evil desires. Wash me deep within from my evil desires, and purify my thoughts, emotions, desires, so that I can say like Jesus, satan has come, but found nothing in me! In your name, I pray Lord Jesus, Amen!

He Only Healed One…

He only healed one…

As we read:
John 5:1 ¶ After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

So we skip down to verse:
19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
only-one-crowd
Then read verse:
30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

So Jesus sought to only do the will of our heavenly Father.

Joh 8:28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.

So we read the familiar account of the man crippled, awaiting healing, at the pool of Bethesda, who had been crippled for 38 years, reportedly unable to enter the water when the healing angel troubled, for tradition said, that only the first one into the water after the angel came, would be healed.

In the faith camp, I have heard this story preached many ways with wonderful insights:
who-said
1. Who said, only the first person into the pool when the angel troubled the waters would be healed? Since the kingdom of God operates according to faith, could not others have been healed upon entering the water, had they exercised faith in God.
healed
2. Do you want to be healed? Jesus question to the man is eternal, for in the ministry of divine healing, we discover that many people say they want to be healed, but when questioned a little closer, they are not willing to let go of their ‘disability’ checks or pensions, should healing occur. They are sick and suffering, but not yet sick and tired of being sick and tired. Until they honestly want to be healed, and let go of their excuses, God will not violate their free will, and heal them.
only-one-gifts
3. This is a perfect illustration to teach on the gifts of the Holy Spirit, that only operate ‘as he wills’. We are to desire them, but we cannot manufacture them. God loves and deals with each and every person uniquely and separately, and as ministers, we can operate in the wonderful gifts of the Holy Spirit, but we all know the ‘they are HIS gifts’. He is God, we are His servants, and apart from Him, we can do nothing.1 Cor 12:11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. However, as we learn to move in the power of the Holy Spirit, we discover that He is a lot more willing to demonstrate His power, and distribute His gifts, than many give Him credit for.
only-one-father
4. Jesus only did the will of the Father.
John 5: 19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
John 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
fathers love
This is where I want to park today, for there is great victory and freedom in it.

Every day, when I owned my company, I was bombarded by sales people trying to sell me the latest and greatest, missionaries and charitable causes looking for a donation, employees wanting a raise or a bonus, clients wanting a discount, suppliers selling materials, or requesting payment, and then the myriad needs of suffering humanity that seem to be ever before us as leaders.

Where do I spend my time and money ?

This is the eternal question.
Spirit led1

Well as one seasoned minister said, almost comically: ‘The answer to this, and countless other questions in life is simply: Be led’

Ro 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Mt 4:1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

Jesus said we will hear His voice:
obey hear voice
John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
There is great freedom in a daily journey with Jesus. We are only responsible to do, what He asks, that day, and His yoke is easy, and His burden is light.

‘But last year you supported us!” or ‘You used our company last time!” or ‘I deserve this raise, or I am going to quit!” are simply pleas of people to be brought before God.

Isa 28:16 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.

If we are walking with God, we are only responsible to do what we believe He is asking us to do. Generally (but not always), when someone demands I make a decision right away, my answer is always, NO!
only-father
I will not be intimidated, manipulated, pushed, or coerced into making any decision, outside the will of God for my life.

If someone must have an answer today, the only answer I am willing to give is: “I will pray about it”

I am honest, and pray I do. God speaks, and I listen.

Joh 10:3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

Heb 3:7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day ye will hear his voice,

Heb 3:15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
voice today
Heb 4:7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

Joh 12:26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honor.

There would be much tragedy avoided, if all of us, did this one simple thing. Pray, then listen, and do what He says.

Let’s Pray:
‘Father, all Your paths are peace, as we love You. Cause us to hear Your voice, and give us grace and strength to say NO! To every other competing voice. Jesus, I believe you are my Shepherd, my Lord, my personal pastor, that no matter how great You make me, I am your child, and You are my Lord. Speak to me today, strengthen me to not be moved by circumstances, but only by Your Spirit, in Jesus name. Amen!

Workers in the Vineyard – Be Led!

Workers in the Vineyard

In today’s text I read:

Matt 20:13 But he answered one of them, Friend, I am doing you no injustice. Did you not agree with me for a denarius?
14 Take what belongs to you and go. I choose to give to this man hired last the same as I give to you.
15 Am I not permitted to do what I choose with what is mine? [Or do you begrudge my being generous?] Is your eye evil because I am good?
16 So those who [now] are last will be first [then], and those who [now] are first will be last [then]. [d]For many are called, but few chosen.

Four things I see in this that are helpful to me:
deal

1. Every man cuts his own deal. Job and financial opportunities come to us all the time, we decide what we are worth. Certain positions only pay certain amounts, and some money is always better than no money, but we should be looking to be in the right field, working for the right Master, that values us and rewards us well for our efforts. If we are self employed, Jesus is our direct Master, and we need to be diligently seeking Him for His direction, promotion, provision, favor and means of maximizing our effort for maximum result.
show up1
2. The opportunity offered was open to many, but only a few even showed up at the place of service.
generosity-jesus
3. The pay was no based upon longevity, faithfulness, or service, but only upon the generosity of the Master. Our income can radically increase when we obey Jesus. Availability trumps ability. Obedience is better than sacrifice and hard work.
make-the-grade
4. Only a few may make the grade. Luke 19:13 And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come. Read this parable carefully. Ten servants were called, only three showed up to give a report of their stewardship. The one who buried his talent, lost it, which means that only two out of ten servants, were ever heard from in Scripture again. Eight disqualified themselves! It is imperative that we not only hear the voice of Jesus, but that we obey quickly, and give it everything we’ve got!
God speaks
What is He saying to You, today? How can we maximize our effectiveness for the King today?

Romans 1:5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:

1 Samuel 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams

Let’s Pray:
Lets pray
‘Father, life is busy, with many opportunities to work, grow, learn, and move forward. Help us to fully obey you, that we might maximize our eternal impact today, and every day. We ask, knowing we are heard and answered, for we ask in Your name Lord Jesus, Amen’

A Place Called There!

A place called there!
Chris Karen Walsh's photo.

The title of his message, was ‘A Place Called There!”

We read of the life of the prophet Elijah:

1 Kings 17:4 And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.

This got us to Sky City, where God mirculously gave us $60 to fill the tank again.

Reclaiming Our Words – Reclaiming our Life!

Some time ago, I attended Ken and Gloria Copeland’s SW Believers conference in Ft. Worth, and am deliberately applying what I learned. One of the topics I heard taught again, is the importance of watching over the words we speak each day.

I have heard this taught for years, and walked in a certain measure of victory in this, but as time went on, my vocabulary has fallen short of my knowledge, making me by default merely a hearer of the Word of God, not a doer only.

Here’s a few Scriptures to get us back on track in this area.

James 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.

James 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

James 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

James 3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; (Yet, the Holy Spirit Can!) it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

10 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?

12 Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.

13 ¶ Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
words many transgress

1 Peter 3:10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
words person

Ok, so we see that much of our problems in life derive from what we speak. James 3:8 says no man can control the tongue, but the Holy Spirit can tame it!

2 Sam 23:2 The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.

3 The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.
pray the Word

1 Peter 4:11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Ephesians 6:19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,

Colossians 4:3 Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:
design words

Why do we do this? We want to be in the perfect will of God, and we want to prosper and increase in every area of life. When we speak God’s Words, in faith, inspired and empowered by Holy Spirit, we open the door for heaven’s intervention upon our lives.

Psalms 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

WOG light

Proverbs 4:18 But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
light Psalm 119-130

Psalms 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

How do we do this? We speak the Word of God into the darkness of any situation, and the entrance of His Word brings light, for it is written:

Jer 1:12 Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.
power Holy Spirit

Is 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

With God’s word, we can literally make the desert bloom as a rose, and create something beautiful from nothing…https://chrisaomministries.com/2015/02/26/recreating-eden-replenish-the-earth/
https://timkoop.wordpress.com/2015/04/22/oh-earth/

Proverbs 18:20 A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
Lips of the righteous

This verse makes it plain, our living is dependant upon what we say, but our increase comes only from the faith filled words we speak.

1 Corinthians 1:5 That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;

See it again here? Paul prayed for the Corinthian church, that they be blessed or enriched. So, what did he pray? That they have utterance (faith filled words that will bring provision and increase), and that they get understanding of this principal.

2 Corinthians 8:7 Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.
I say

See it again here? Paul’s prayer is getting answered, these folks are abounding in everything, and he explains how. They believed the Word, that is had faith. They spoke, for out of the heart the mouth speaks, and 2 Corinthians 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;
faith speaks

When they spoke, God watched over His Word to perform it, and they increased, and were blessed!

Job 22:28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
decree

Ps 2: 7 ¶ I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.
ask1

This principal is literally a matter of life and death.

Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
death and life

During my years at Rhema, I attended healing school for over a year, every day, determined to learn the ministry of divine healing. In healing, the words we speak over ourselves are critical. There have been cases where people who had been totally given up by medical science, given up for dead, were instructed to confess the Word of God over themselves. In the natural, they were so weak, they were literally at death’s door. Yet, by confessing, “Thank you Jesus, that you love me. I believe I receive your strength. I’m strong! Your Word says I am healed, and I believe I receive your healing. I’m healed, I’m strong, and getting stronger. Thank you Jesus that you sent the Holy Spirit, and He is here, and He is a life giving Spirit. I receive your life, Holy Spirit, and I will live and not die, and declare the glory of my God.”
heal1

By having folks simply repeat these words, twice daily, we watched their color come back, and cancer defeated, and paralysis reversed, and folks recover from strokes, and get off stretchers and out of wheelchairs. Continually, often, and it still goes on there 8 times/ week, forty or so years later!
heal medicine

So what should we speak? Healing, Prosperity, Victory, Strength, Wisdom, Direction, Praise, prayer in the Holy Spirit, provision, favor, to name a few things.

Psalms 35:28 And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long.
praise sword

Psalms 119:172 My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.

So we can discipline our tongues, on purpose, through prayer, deliberate confession of the Word of God, and through time spent praying in the Holy Spirit.

Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Job 27:4 My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit.

A friend of mine Will, a cowboy that was at Rhema when I was there, told me the following, and it has stuck with me over the years. He said, ‘The way I see it, every time you speak, you either feed your faith, or feed your unbelief.” Why? Well, let’s say, I say, I will meet you at 3PM, but I don’t get there until 3:30. Well, actually I am a liar by a half an hour, but though God will immediately forgive us if we ask, we have hurt our own confidence in ourselves, and also in our trust towards God. Cause, we go through each day, speaking words, but not bringing them to pass in our own life, and then we approach a Holy God who cannot lie.
cowboy faith

We bring His Word before His throne, and what happens: He is ready to perform it. But, we do not believe He will, because we don’t believe ourselves, for we have been lying to ourselves and others, and it has hurt us and our confidence in our own words.

We may know we have authority with God, and may understand, 2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

God’s Word is Holy, full of life, and cannot be broken. God’s promises are yes, but what is needed is us to agree with us, for the word Amen literally means: ‘so be it!’. When we pray the Word, we are declaring the decrees of God, and God watches over His Word to perform it in our lives, as long as we continue to walk in belief (faith). Yet, when we speak idle, non productive, fluffy words, we actually destroy the very belief that will produce everything we need for life and godliness.

I realize this to be true, and made a quality decision to submit to the discipline of the Holy Spirit in this area, and allow Him to align my words to His Word, in this area.
words0

This has taken radical change, in literally shutting off the cell phone, and surrounding myself with much solitude, so that I can deliberately, carefully pray and hear His wisdom for my specific life, and to carefully create prayer lists and proclamations as to what I want to happen in my life. Then, Holy Spirit gives me wisdom on how to bring it to pass.

I could craft a neat prayer and confession from what I have just taught here, but I am going to let you do it. Just reading this teaching will not do you the good you need, unless you make a quality decision to actually take control of your words on a daily basis. If you do, Holy Spirit will appear on the scene to help us, and there is much more revelation in the Word along these lines to help us.

Like Nike says in their ad, ‘Just Do it!’
just do it

Let’s Pray:

‘Father, ambassadors speak the words of the government they represent. I want to represent You well, and establish and increase Your kingdom here in the earth, through my life, only doing what You want me to do. Please Sir, have Holy Spirit breath through me, Your Words, not mine. Set a bridle on my tongue to not speak foolish, vain, lying, unproductive words today, and every day, for the rest of my life. I ask this Father, knowing I am heard and answered, for I have submitted to Your Lordship Jesus, and ask in Your name. Amen’
