Freedom from Addictions – Murrays Story

Deliverance from Addictions!
promises ower

Col 1: 13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

I remember counselling Murray, who had smoked for 30 years, that the power to quit smoking was in the word of God, not in himself, for he clearly could not quit. Knowing God loves us, and has a sense of humor, I told Mr. Murr, (as the youth group affectionatly nick named him), that there was pleasure in sin for a season, so I wanted him to enjoy his cigarettes, but that if he wanted to quit to do this:

Each morning, when you get up, and have your coffee,, and light that first cigarette of the day, hold it up before the Lord, and say, Lord, I thank you that you are Lord of my life, not this cigarette. Your Word says that you have delivered me from the power of darkness, and surely that includes this cigarette, so I am going to enjoy this smoke, knowing that you have already delivered me from its power. I instructed him, that every time he took a puff, to laugh and SAY, Thank you Jesus that I am delivered from the power of this cigarette.
He too had a sense of humor, and he began this childlike journey of faith with me, laughingly talking to his cigarette as he smoked: ‘I have been delivered from the power of darkness, and Jesus is greater than you.’

While he walked in child-like faith, the mighty machinery of heaven began to roll. Why? Behind every promise, sits an almighty, holy God, who has chosen to obligate Himself to perform His word, because of the precious shed blood of His Son, Jesus our Lord. Each time Murray declared that he was delivered, the “Yes” of heaven, met the “Amen” of a believing heart and voice here in the earth, and power was provided to perform that very promise on behalf of Murray!

A couple of weeks went by, then one morning when he woke up, and picked up his pack of smokes, he decided to get himself a cup of coffee before lighting up. He made his coffee, finished it, and realized that he had not had his morning smoke yet. So, he went to work, and forgot about it. Well, no cravings, no struggle, and he has never had another cigarette, again!

So, how about you. What is your struggle? If we could beat it in our own strength, we wouldn’t need Jesus. When we put His Word in our mouths, He obligates Himself to perform that Word, by His power.

You too, have already been delivered from the power of darkness. Believe it, receive it, and walk free from your struggle, in His time.
Let’s pray:

Lets pray
‘Father, I thank you that I have been delivered from the power of darkness. Now! Help me to confess this, each time I struggle, in your name I pray Lord Jesus, Amen’

ALL God’s Promises are ours!

All God’s promises are ours in Jesus!

Ex 19:4 Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles’ wings, and brought you unto myself.
5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:

6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.

Gal 6:15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature.
16 And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

1Pe 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

As I listened one night as pastor Sharon Daugherty preached one night in healing service  at victory.com, she made the statement: “ALL the Promises of God are for us today, Old and New Testament!”

This aligns with:

2 Corinthians 1: (KJV)

20 For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

WOG promise
Well, I like the promises God made through Moses to the children of Israel here. We see that because Jesus, the Israelite, the Messiah, the Christ, was fully accepted by God in His sacrifice upon the cross as an atonement for our sins, that we, beggerly Gentiles, have been grafted into the covenant of God to the Jews, that we have been adopted into His family, full born sons and daughters, by the new birth in our hearts.

John 1:12 (KJV)

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

We have received Jesus, as Lord and Savior, and God our Father has received us as fully adopted sons and daughters!

These promises are for us, today, if we would but simply, in childlike faith, believe and receive them:
We are borne on eagles wings and brought to Him, His presence, and His pleasure!
You shall be a peculiar treasure unto Him above all people!
Ye shall be unto Him a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation!
Notice the shift here in tense. In the Old Testament, the promises read: You SHALL be, speaking of a conditional promise, based upon obedience.
Don’t get me wrong, we still need to obey God, but our new covenant is receive by faith, and we receive first, THEN we obey!
Through Jesus, as children of the most high God, it is written:
1Pe 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:
Notice this truth! Not, we SHALL be, rather, we ARE!
Welcome child of God to the chosen generation, placed into the kingdom as a royal priesthood, a member in particular of this holy nation, a precious, unique, separated people unto the most High God!
When this goes off on the inside of you, you will automatically fulfill the rest of the verse, and start thanking and praising Jesus for the incredibly wonderful thing He has done for us!

eagle
Let’s do that right now!
‘Father, I come into your presence, thanking you for your amazing mercy, goodness, and love! Thank you for forgiving, adopting, and embracing me into your kingdom and granting me royal rank, privilege, and blessing in this holy nation, as a citizen of heaven, exercising your authority and honor here in the earth. I thank you Jesus for your sacrifice, and I praise and exalt you for what you did, and continue to do, and my Lord and King. Hallelujah!”

God is working on it!

By faith and patience we inherit the promises.

faith + patience

I am reminded of this verse today, an encouragement to my heart:

Isaiah 28:16 therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation:

he that believeth shall not make haste.

If you have prayed and asked God for a specific thing, all His promises are YES!

For is it not written?

2 Corinthians 1:20

For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

Be patient while He works on it!

Let’s Pray:

‘Father, i thank you that you heard me when I prayed, and have answered me. I trust you Holy Spirit to lead me and guide me as I obey Jesus today, as You lead me, teach me, and give me wisdom to walk in what I have believed. Amen”
