The Rough and Tumble of LIFE

As I read this mornings saga of Jacob and Laban, I am reminded of a sermon I heard from a man named Andy Justa, so many years ago at ‘The Searchlight’ a Christian coffee house we used to run, entitled ‘God’s got a Laban for you’. Must have been a great sermon, because I still […]

As I read this mornings saga of Jacob and Laban, I am reminded of a sermon I heard from a man named Andy Justa, so many years ago at ‘The Searchlight’ a Christian coffee house we used to run, entitled ‘God’s got a Laban for you’. Must have been a great sermon, because I still remember it over 15 years later.

How people who are liars, cons, sneaky, got great game:

have an appointment with the sultan of swing, their particular Laban.

Jacob ended up working 20 years for Laban, and he changed his wages 10 times, until finally, broken, he fell at the feet, wrestled with an angel to finally receive what God has all along, the blessing of God, and royal rank and privilege in the kingdom. His name and his nature was changed from Jacob (his name means ‘swindler’) the con, to Israel (prince before God). As I watch the Jacob’s of this world, I know, as Paul Harvey describes: ‘The rest of the story’.

If you are a liar, manipulator, and con:There is a Laban coming.

You will either break before God, truly repent, or you will be destroyed.

Matthew 21:44

And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder

God is not threatened by wicked people, although in our day to day world, it is sure frustrating for us who have to deal with these sneaks. In business, they are malicious predators who would bankrupt you without conscience, claiming ‘It’s just business’.

Jacob learned that it is the blessing of God that will prosper you. Laban was a thief, his brother Esau a murderer, and he was in between a rock and hard place. Keeping working for a thief, or go home and get killed by your brother.

Twenty long years!

I believe He could have cried out to God right up front, and been delivered, but how we love to run….

In Ps 73, king David had the same lament before God:

For I envied the proud

when I saw them prosper despite their wickedness.

They seem to live such painless lives;

their bodies are so healthy and strong.

They don’t have troubles like other people;

they’re not plagued with problems like everyone else.

They wear pride like a jeweled necklace

and clothe themselves with cruelty.

These fat cats have everything

their hearts could ever wish for!

They scoff and speak only evil;

in their pride they seek to crush others.

They boast against the very heavens,

and their words strut throughout the earth

He had had enough, and was pouring out his heart to God, when suddenly he saw his life, and theirs from heaven’s perspective:

16 So I tried to understand why the wicked prosper.

But what a difficult task it is!

17 Then I went into your sanctuary, O God,

and I finally understood the destiny of the wicked.

18 Truly, you put them on a slippery path

and send them sliding over the cliff to destruction.

19 In an instant they are destroyed,

completely swept away by terrors.

It is always payday, someday and those who think they are running their particular show, have an appointment with God, that they will keep. My hope and prayer is always they make the appointment before they die, for we all will appear before Him upon the hour of our death, and if we have not got right with Jesus by then, it is too late:

https://chrisaomministries.com/2017/02/27/do-you-want-to-go-to-heaven/

To you child of God, I feel impressed to tell you this from the heart of God this morning:

‘There is help for you from the Sanctuary!’

To you who are challenged by the antics of wicked people, know their day is coming, but your day is today!

His name is ‘I AM’ and He is your ever present help in time of need.

NOW is the time to cry out for help.

Jesus really does love you, and will deliver you out of their hand, if you cry out to Him, today.

Psalm 18:6

But in my distress I cried out to the Lord; yes, I prayed to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry to him reached his ears.

Hebrews 4:16

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most

Let’s Pray:

‘Father, HELP! You see how these wicked people rip me off, oppress me, and steal from my family. How hard I work, fighting my fight of faith, while they walk in pride, mocking me, and You, and all that I stand for! Send Your power, Your grace, Your peace, Your revelation, Your provision, Your blessing, Your strength, Your courage to me and my family, NOW, in the name and authority of Jesus, I come. AMEN’

Life Wind!

Receive: LIFE!

I have been meditating today, on how the Spirit of God, brings LIFE to us!

“Without the Spirit of God, we can do nothing. We are as ships without wind. We are useless.” – C.H. Spurgeon
life-wind
2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
life-wind0
Ge 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
life-wind2
1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
life-wind1
Was listening a while back to Rick Renner speak at Victory Christian center, and he used a balloon to illustrate the meaning of ‘inspired’. How the balloon is flaccid, limp, dead, until you blow into it, your breath. Then it expands, takes shape, and will even bounce around the room.

As I meditated upon this, I read a quote by another minister, Rev, Mark Hankins, “God’s Word, in your mouth, is mouth to mouth resuscitation from God’.

Made me think back to that balloon.

Deflated, it’s not going anywhere.

Inflated, it can bounce around the room, or be carried all over the place by the wind.
balloon
When we receive God’s Word into our hearts, these are no mere mortals words, they are filled with the breath of God Himself, and as He inflates us, we too can be carried all over the place in the wind of His Spirit.

“You might as well try to see without eyes, hear without ears, or breathe without lungs, as to try to live the Christian life without the Holy Spirit.” – D.L. Moody

I need Jesus LIFE today!

Let’s Pray:
‘Father, I receive your Word today, your breath, your life. Inflate me with purpose, passion, and direction today, and carry me, wherever the wind of your Holy Spirit needs me to be, in your name I pray Lord Jesus.

Do You Want To Go To Heaven?

The Gospel

gospel

Dear Friend,

God loves you, and there are five things God wants you to know about Him, and I feel impressed by Him to tell you what they are.

gospel manger

  1. Jesus was born. Babies are born every day, but Jesus is different because although Mary is His earthly mother, God is His heavenly Father. That makes Him different than any other person that has ever walked the earth. Think of it this way, the egg inside of Mary was human, the sperm divine. Theologians call this Immaculate Conception, but to most of us, it is the Christmas story. God became a man in the form of Jesus Christ, Emanuel, God with us. God came to earth and joined humanity, like each of us, as a meek helpless baby. Jesus is not merely the son of God, but God the Son, the second person of the Trinity.

god-the-son

  1. Jesus grew up, he became a man yet without sin. Although the Bible says little about his first thirty years, the baby we celebrate at Christmas did not remain a child, at thirty years of age, He withdrew from humanity and fasted forty days to come back in the power of the Holy Spirit to show the world what a person, walking with the Creator can be. He healed the sick, raised the dead, fed the multitudes, walked on water, stopped storms, and cast evil spirits out of people.
    gospel miracles
He did all of this, without sin. Not one time did He ever break the laws of God or man, that qualified Him as the sinless, spotless, holy, Lamb of God, accepted by God, as the only fit sacrifice, for the sins of humanity. He is still the same and doing the same things today. Yet the day came on earth when He was betrayed, and sentenced by a kangaroo court to death. Religious people had Him murdered.

gospel cross

  1. He died on the cross. Not a pretty death. Deserted by his closest friends. Beaten beyond human recognition. His face pulverized. Weakened so much by blood boss that this formerly strong man could not carry His own cross. The sky turned black as night, the earth split open and dead people came out of the graves to testify. He spoke three words that still echo throughout eternity, “It is finished” The veil in the temple, was torn from top to bottom, signifying that the separation between God and humanity was now ended. God could again visit with the people He created even as He walked with Adam in the garden of Eden. Jesus bore the sin of the whole world upon Himself on the cross, an infinite sacrifice, for an infinite debt. Atonement!

gospel rose

  1. He rose from the dead. You know, the Easter story. HIS story. Not the tooth fairy, Lord of the Rings, or the Easter bunny. Though they laid the body of Jesus in a tomb for three days, His spirit was not there. He went through paradise, He went to hell, yet on the third day, His spirit rejoined His body, and He rose. The stone was rolled away, and He ascended into heaven. For the next fifty days He appeared to over five hundred eyewitnesses, and then while five hundred watched, two angels appeared, and He ascended bodily back into heaven. Many educated moral instructors have lived: Buddha, Mohammed, Gandhi, Plato, and others, yet each of these died. Their body remains in their tomb today. Jesus rose from the dead.

gospel ascended

  1. He reigns. He is Lord of heaven and earth. God is the spirit, seeking those who will worship Him in spirit and truth. There is only one true God, maker of heaven and earth, yet He has revealed Himself throughout His Word in three separate and distinct persons. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus is the Son of God, birthed of His Spirit. When He ascended back into heaven, God sat Him at His right hand where He reigns the universe.

gospel reigns

In short:

He came, He lived, He died, He rose and He reigns.

creator1

Now the problem of Creation must be addressed. You and I. Each and every one of us have been created in the image of God. We are also spirits, we have a soul, and we live in a body. Jesus did not come to make bad people good, or good people better, He came to make dead people ALIVE! Except a man be born-again, he cannot even see the kingdom of God. God loves you personally and wants you to know Him on His terms. Religion has always been man’s set of rules and regulations attempting to reach God, Jesus is God’s attempt to reach man. He died for you, not because He had to, but because He loves you. Yet, He did not create robots, each of us has a free will. The question He would have me ask you is this: Do you want Him to be your king? Do you want to go to heaven when you die, to be with Him? If you do, the Bible makes this promise to each of us,

‘If you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Rom 10:9,10’

salvation

Here’s what each of us need to do to come to God on His terms.

  • We must acknowledge Jesus as our personal Lord. That is, in light of this great love He has demonstrated towards us, we must make a decision as to whether of not we will choose to allow Him to rule over us.
  • We must believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead.
  • We must confess, out loud to Him that we want Him.

Here’s a simple prayer.

 Lets pray

‘God, I want to know you. I want you to be in charge of my life. I accept you Lord Jesus as my Lord. Forgive me Lord for all the things I have done against you. I believe, Father that you raised Jesus from the dead, and I ask you to come into my life and make me the best person I can possibly be. Amen.

Now, that prayer will get you right with God, today. But what about tomorrow? Each day we need to grow spiritually, in our relationship with Him. That will involve talking to Him about your day, and involving Him in your day-to-day decisions. How do you do that? Well, begin to read your Bible, every day, first thing. Seek Him first thing, and He will add everything else you need to your life. When you see something in the Bible that is new to you, do what it says.

read-bible

That’s where we come in. Eventually, you are going to need a good church. A place of love, friendship, and fellowship, where we can worship God and work together to make this world a better place. Any Bible-believing church would love to meet you and to hear about your new decision to serve God. There are many fine churches all over the world. Shop for one that believes the Bible to be the Word of God, and where you have peace.

https://chrisaomministries.wordpress.com/2014/12/04/why-go-to-church/

For many years, we attended Victory Christian Center here in Tulsa at victory.com. Great church that will help you grow in your walk with God!

Presently, we attend Rivergate Church here on 71st st in Tulsa, just East of Riverside, under the wonderful leadership of pastors Joel and Linda Budd. The kingdom is alive and active, and we need to serve God someplace, and here, there are wonderful miracles every time we meet. God is passionatly at work among us, and it is exciting to see what He will do next.

Each day, I post a blog on here, on one of the many topics relevant to the kingdom of God. The purpose of this is to encourage you to read your Bible every day, and to pray and seek first our heavenly Father and His kingdom. I would encourage you to subscribe and read along.- https://chrisaomministries.com/2016/08/06/the-purpose-of-this-blog/

The thoughts of the Diligent

Pr 21: 5 ¶ The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want. Saw this picture, and my Canadian roots made me think about the industrious beaver depicted on our coins, a symbol of work… Pr 10:16 The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: […]

I have been thinking about the word diligent this morning:
diligent
I read this Scripture, and decided to look up a few more:

Pr 21: 5 ¶ The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.

Saw the beaver picture, and my Canadian roots made me think about the industrious beaver depicted on our coins, a symbol of work…

Pr 10:16 The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.

Pr 13:11 Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.

Pr 12:24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.

Pr 14:23 In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.

diligent

Our work produces prosperity, and it seems that when we are diligent in what God has called us to do, we see plenteousness, blessing, abundance, in every area of life. Notice here that abundance begins in our thought life, we need to see it first in our mind, and then in the hustle and bustle of our muscle applied to a dream or a project, great things occur. Notice Proverbs 14:23 here, there is work involved with the dream. Just talking about it doesn’t get the job done, in fact, it leads to poverty.

obedience-action
I could say I’m called of God, and then pretend to be praying, while surfing the internet, watching videos, or being entertained, but there would be no substance to what I teach or preach, you can get by on a few hymns, quips, and quotes to break the ice in a meeting, but God has no dumb sheep, we all have the mind of Christ. If we claim to be leading for God, we need to be going somewhere, and if we claim to be feeding the flock of God, we need to have fresh bread, broken and fresh from the oven of our prayer life, hot from the coals of heaven! No one wants stale, moldy bread, too hard to even break or chew!

stale-bread

Jesus is the bread of life, and I have determined to spend my life, preparing, baking, and serving the fresh bread of His Word to His people, in the heart and center of a God given vision being accomplished progressively for as long as He might leave me here in the earth. How about you?

bread-of-life1
Are you hungry?

Or are you filled up with the things of this life that will never satisfy…

There is a hunger in every heart, that only Jesus can fill!

Let’s pray:

‘Father, here we are again, hungry to know you more. Show us the area’s were are called to work for you, and help us to be faithful and diligent in them, in your name I pray Lord Jesus, Amen.”

Empty Enemies

Empty Enemies

tolstoy
1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

And so we see the enemies of God: This worldly impersonal organized system devoid of love and life – the world, the Bible calls it.

Organizational structures that are sterile, void of care, concern, compassion, yet strong enough to endure generations. This is why we know the letter of the law kills, it is the spirit that brings life. If we build these empires, organizationally and administratively clean, yet without care and concern for the people these structures are supposed to serve and help, the very people we create these to serve, become crushed beneath their weight, the tyranny of unfulfilled expectations, that places people on a treadmill like a hamster: ever running, but going nowhere, making no difference, living and dying as fuel for the machine, blind to the rule of the one behind it, the god of this world, satan himself. The Nazi’s had order – just no love, nor life in their system.
lifeless
Then there is the lust of the flesh: The savage passions for promotion, power, possessions, people, places and things, that can never be satisfied. Fallen flesh, that is ever hungry for more. More what? More money, more food, more power, more sex, more entertainment, more friends, more stuff, more knowledge. Always hungry, never satisfied: lust. No matter how much you feed it, it leaves a painful empty ache each time you indulge it, because you know that you fed the wrong thing, and your true hunger, for God, for intimacy, for purpose, for passion, for peace, for honor, for love, for holiness, was never met, no matter how much you indulge carnal appetites.
carnal-wigglesworth
Is 55;1 ¶ Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

There is that which will fulfill our deepest thirsts! Come to Jesus!
thirsty-man

Then there is the pride of life: Look at me, look what I can do, look at my house, my status, my company, my associations with the right people. Beautiful wife, beautiful life, empty, void of life. Spending time and money to impress people who neither understand nor care about you, or who you really are, For what?
pride-world
Satan was Lucifer, the chief worship leader in heaven, closest to the throne before he fell. Why? He became proud. Those who are blinded by him, become like him – proud, selfish, screaming for entitlement, power and control. Love serves….

Joh 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

Have you discovered the emptiness of life yet? Have you run hard enough on your little treadmill of work, relationships, activities, pleasures that leave you dry, weary, poured out and cored out – a hollow shell of who you are created to be? It may take some time to learn how to feed on that which truly does satisfy – to begin to feast on bread of life and things of eternal glory, but is is worth obeying that deeper nudge…that itch that has never been scratched by worldy pursuits, for you are created for much more than this world can offer. He created the universe – and is the only One big enough to fully satisfy and understand the complexity that is you!

It is Jesus who alone can satisfy the thirst and deepest hungers in your heart. Let all these enemies of God and you, die, slain at the cross, that you, like Jesus, might experience the resurrection life, found only in Him.

He is more than enough…

It has been said: ‘When the student is ready, the teacher appears…’ Are you ready yet? He is waiting, still, with loving heart, and open arms. He knows, He cares, and He waits, until you are ready to receive Him…

jesus-waits
Let’s pray:
‘Father, I see the tyranny of the world: The hardness, the severe toughness, of the daily rough and tumble of the world. It has left a coldness, hardness, and meanness deep within my soul. How well, I know see the foolishness of my own passionate pursuits, that have left me empty, dry, hungry for what truly satisfies. So I have fallen into the comparison trap, the competitive need to impress people I barely know, nor care about. My own self will, determined to do my own will, against you. Forgive me Father, and have mercy. Meet with me, and show me why I exist, Your highest and best for me and my life. Fill me with Your Spirit, for I hunger deep inside, and nothing satisfies me…help me Jesus. Amen’

Decision Time!

Life in the Word of God
decisions
Ezekial 20: 11 And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them.

Statutes: written edicts, laws.

Judgments: Decisions

God has given us His written edicts, His laws, and if we walk with Him, He will show us how He decides, judges, rules among men. As we do what HE says, we find our entire life alive in His promises! He is Love, Life, and life to the full!
consequences2
Let’s pray: ‘Father, I receive your statutes, and ask that you show me the way that you think, and make decisions among men. I want to do your will, and find my life in you, and in you precious Jesus, Amen.”

Know Your Faith?

Know Your Faith?

1 Thess 3:5 For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.

Interesting verse. Paul knew that the Christians in Thessolica had been persecuted and had suffered for the gospel, and he loved them, and wanted to make sure they were alright. He couldn’t get there himself, but like a parent with a child, he had to know they were okay. So, he sent someone to ‘know their faith’.

Just like a doctor has certain diagnostic tools to perform a check up, to see our physical health, and a mechanic has either a check list or computer diagnostic to determine the running condition of a vehicle, so a seasoned minister has certain diagnostic tools, to locate a persons heart and life, with respect to the Word of God.

In no particular order, here are a couple of these tools:
1. Their words. You can quickly discover what a person believes by what they are saying.
Mt 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Mt 12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

People that believe the Word of God in an area, have it hidden in their hearts.

What they believe, will be spoken, for the primary action of faith is words.

And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak…
faith voice

2. Their actions: Mt 9:2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.

When someone believes the Word of God in a certain area, there will be corresponding actions that go with what they believe. They will be attending church, caring for the poor, walking in love, forgiveness, and will be in prayer.

So, if someone claims to be a believer, you can find out what they believe about a certain area of the Word, by what they say, and do, in that area.

Does anyone have any other spiritual diagnostic tools, to discover where the faith of another person, or group truly lies?

Let’s Pray:
‘Father God, show me how to discern where the faith of others is at, and to add to them, in any way You and they will allow, in Your name I pray Lord Jesus, Amen’

Tired of Spinning your wheels?

spinning
Every felt like a hamster on a treadmill, spinning your wheels, running hard, but going nowhere in God. Another day, another dollar, and the weeks turn into months, years, and suddenly you wake up really tired, looking back on a season of your life where you worked hard, but seems like you went no where?
hamster

Ah, that bone-weary, poured out, cored out hollowness, where you wake up tired, and with resignation, put one foot in front of another, to make it through another day…How well I know that reality…

If you want a change, you gotta make a change, and here are two changes you must make, if you want to see anything of eternal consequence accomplished with your life.

1. Establish your morning prayer watch before the Lord – Seek ye FIRST is still in the book.
obey seek first

2. Learn to be led by Holy Spirit, and to OBEY Him, implicitly. Admittedly, this is more art, than engineering, for Jesus desires relationship, daily. He really does love us, and promises us life, love and joy in the journey.
Spirit led1

Sometimes, you gotta slow down to speed up…

Here are some articles I wrote on actually hearing the voice of God. The articles themselves are well written and researched, but mean nothing, unless YOU actually meet with Jesus as you read them.

When you do, you step outta the box, off the treadmill, and start living the life you were born to live, making headlines in heaven, creating eternal impact – IN THIS LIFE!

In this you will discover eternal purpose, and regain your passion for life again, for Jesus clearly promises LIFE, and life more abundantly.

If you do not know Him yet, or have quietly walked away, remember why He came:

Lets pray

‘Father God, please speak to me today, and show me your highest and best for my life. Show me the steps I need to begin to take to get there, and give me the courage and strength to begin to take them. Help me to lay aside distractions and time wasters, to carve out time for You, Your Word, Your kingdom, and the fulness of Your purpose. I ask, knowing I am heard and answered, for I ask in Your name Lord Jesus. Amen’

The Worlds Hatred, Overcome!

The World’s Hatred
Hate love
John 15:
18 “If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. 19 The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you.

The worldly system, that is the ordered systems of the world that are governed by the mind and thinking of the ‘god of this world’ are the enemies of God and us His church victorious in the earth.

I would encourage you to read this small book by Watchman Nee, entitled ‘Love Not the World’.

It has been my experience, that as I fully obey Jesus, I run up against this system quite frequently, and I see it two fold:

  1. It is a system of policies and procedures that work well in ordering things, micro-administration that controls one’s everyday actions with an iron fist, similar to the Nazi regime in days gone by. Great order, no love, no life.

  2. It can also be a set of rules and regulations that have now become traditions, that have outlived their usefulness.in improving the human condition, they become objects of oppression, that no longer even need demons to manage, they are simply dead legalistic rules, sterile, devoid of life and purpose, that quietly strangle the life, joy and love of the people ruled by them.

Read the book, brother Nee has some great thoughts to share, then get up and live for Jesus today.

If you are a child of God, you have the life of God burning within your heart. This life, activated by faith, will create, build, serve, work, love, and bring life to a dying and decaying world.

Walk with Jesus today, and make an eternal difference on this war torn, broken world.

Let’s Pray:

‘Father God, refill me today with precious Holy Spirit. By faith, I stir up the gift You have given me, and I choose to love, live, and flow in You this day, led by You fully King Jesus. Amen!’
