Miracles and Judgement!

Miracles and Judgement

Let’s read these words of Jesus together today:
miracles of JEsus

Matt 11:20 Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:

21 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

God is love! God is good! God loves to mighty miracles of healing, deliverance, and prosperity. Yet, authentic miracles, demand a response. When someone critically ill is healed by the power of God, God expects people to turn to Him in thanksgiving and praise.
thank you
Remember the ten lepers healed, only one came back to say thank you?
Luke 17:17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.

Notice how Matt 11 continues:

22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. 23 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. 24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.
wrath

God does signs, wonders, and miracles still today. We must respond in thanks, praise, and give honest testimony of His power.

The welfare of our city may well depend upon it!

Let’s Pray:
‘Father God, release signs, wonders, and miracles, here, in my life, my city, my nation! Reveal your love, power, and glory! Father I pray that as you do, we continue in childlike awe, humility, and thankfulness, never losing our sense of awe and gratefulness, for who you are and what you do. May each of us who receive from you today, be faithful to testify of your goodness and grace, in your name we pray Lord Jesus , Amen!’

Judge Not? Judging like Jesus..

Judging like Jesus!

Fond

Been meditating on the concept of how Jesus judges. Watched the movie, ‘The Shack’ recently, and it got me to thinking. I remember one scene in the movie, where God the Father (appearing as a wonderful black woman) was asked “Why don’t you judge them?”

With raised eyebrows she said: “Judge?”

The overwhelming theme of the movie is how incredibly complex human lives are, and how far God will go in love to reach out and heal and redeem shattered people.

Clearly God is love, and hates evil, yet operates in love above and beyond all evil.

Got to thinking about some Scriptures.

Remember the woman caught in adultery?
woman caught in adultery

Let’s look at it together:

John 8:

Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.

And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.

And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,

They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?

stone

This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.

So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

without sin

And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
12 ¶ Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true.
14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.
15 Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.
16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.
18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.

We see in this reading, that Jesus was called to judge in the case of the woman caught in adultery. Many have commented on His great mercy towards the woman, and the wisdom of His judgement on her behalf, standing against the corrupted judgement of the religious leaders of the day. Obviously, for adultery to have occurred, there had to be two participants, and the man was conspicuously absent from this mock trial and potential stoning.
judge righteous
Yet, Jesus was able to render true judgement in this case, and in His judgement, I believe there was grace imparted to the woman, power from God, to empower her to be able to do, what He told her to do: Go, and sin no more.

Yet, today as I meditated upon the Word, seeking the will of our Father for my life, I see something here that I suspected for many times, and that is the relationship between personal holiness and purity of heart, and the power of God displayed.
be-holy

Normally, judgement is rendered out of the mouth of two or three witnesses. The question logically might be: How do we know if the witnesses are telling the truth? Secondly, what do we do if the society has become so corrupt, that no honest witnesses can be found?
two-or-three-witnesses

Jesus heart was revealed in His relationship with our Father, in this:

John 2:24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,
25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

Jesus walk with our Father, was from birth to the cross, in absolute purity, and sinless perfection.

I believe that we are called to walk this way also.

The question is how do we get there, and how do we judge or make decisions?

What about these verses?

Matt 7:1 ¶ Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.
6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

Here we see a direct commandment not to judge people.

Joh 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
Joh 5:27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
Joh 5:30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
judge righteous by Holy Spirit
Joh 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.

How on earth, are we supposed to do that?

Answer? This is only possible by correctly applying the Word of God, and accurately hearing the voice of Jesus in the earth, the Holy Spirit!
obey hear voice

Romans 14:10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.

In all of these Scriptures, we see that we are forbidden to judge other people, yet what about these verses:

Joh 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
Joh 5:27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

Does Jesus still have authority to judge? Surely.

Question is, as His representatives and ambassadors in the earth, how do we judge?
ambassador

1 Cor 4:1 ¶ Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.
2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man’s judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.
4 For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.
5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

I believe there is a place in obedience to the Holy Spirit, whereby Jesus reveals to us, as leaders, His judgments and decrees in the earth, and that these must be received by direct revelation from the heart and lips of our Father in heaven.

The challenge is what to do with what He shows us?

Are we to pray, prophesy, preach, confront?

This takes wisdom, because sometimes, because He loves us, He simply shows us things, to protect or bring understanding to us, and our families.

Sometimes the best I can do in these situations, where others are set in THEIR ways to do against the revealed will of God, is to quietly walk away and remove myself from them.

I have learned to seek purity of heart and motive.

Why?

Mt 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

I, like you, need to see God, clearly, so that I might know the will of the Father. Only when I see and hear Him, can I honestly obey, with a right motive, and judge correctly. He is Lord, I am not, I am nothing but a steward over His work, His Creation. Yet, there are times, when I must stand bold against sin, sickness, demons, and the constructs of the agendas of men and their worldly agendas.

Our job is always to endeavor to obey Him, no matter what!
obey no compromise

2Co 10:6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

As we obey, we will see more and more power of God manifest in the earth:

Ac 5:32 And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

As a witness, I need to see something: either His plan, purpose, presence or revealed will in a situation, or perhaps to an event that He performed, a sign, wonder, miracle, that I can testify about. When I witness the Holy Spirit bears witness, and He graciously shows up in my life, as I obey Him!

This, and this alone allows me to judge situations, people, and even governments!

When this happens, I can take His authority, and war for His will in the earth, declaring His decrees and watching as He establishes these in power, as I believe His Word!

You can too!

Let’s Pray:

“Father, I believe that all judgement still belongs to Jesus. He is Lord, and I am His. Jesus, show me your will for my life, my family, my church, my community, my state, and my country. In every area these are not in alignment with your will and your Word, anoint me to arise in violent faith, and to blast every enemy, and to establish your kingdom through your Word declared. Thank you for signs, wonders and miracles establishing your Word in the earth. Amen’

Decision Time!

Life in the Word of God
decisions
Ezekial 20: 11 And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them.

Statutes: written edicts, laws.

Judgments: Decisions

God has given us His written edicts, His laws, and if we walk with Him, He will show us how He decides, judges, rules among men. As we do what HE says, we find our entire life alive in His promises! He is Love, Life, and life to the full!

Let’s pray: ‘Father, I receive your statutes, and ask that you show me the way that you think, and make decisions among men. I want to do your will, and find my life in you, and in you precious Jesus, Amen.”

Love plays no favorites….

Love Plays no favorites…

respect of persons

Romans 5: (AKJV)

and hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

The foundation of everything in the Christian faith is the love of God. It is a spirit-led existence, never designed to be walked out in our own strength, it is the Holy Spirit in us, shed abroad in our hearts, that shows the love and grace of God to this fallen world.

faith works by love

Our faith only works by love, and as we shared yesterday in service, one of the fruits of the love of God, can be immediately shown, in the way we treat people. Whether rich or poor, clean or dirty, we must not be a respecter of persons, we must love…

Absolutely impossible in our own strength!

possible done

Read with me a couple Scriptures if you would:

Acts 10:34

Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

1 Peter 2:17 [

Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

Proverbs 24:23

These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.

respect in judgement1

Proverbs 28:21

To have respect of persons is not good: for for a piece of bread that man will transgress.

James 2:1

My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.

God is no respecter of persons, nor should we be. We cannot be one way when we are with our wealthy, intellecully success friends, and then act another with the poor, the broken, the street person, the homosexual, the muslim, the pervert…

He loves people, and as long as they have breath in their body, is doing the mission of Jesus, to seek and save the lost….

seek lost

So should we be!

Yet, fear raises it’s ugly head: ‘How can I share Jesus with an openly gay man that is hitting on me?’ ‘How can I even speak to muslims? Are they all trying to take over the world?’

Not that any others of you have asked yourself these questions….

So last night, my pastor friend and I led the openly, and flaboyently homo-sexual waiter at Denny’s to Jesus, then sat with him, as he poured out his heart, his struggles, and his brutal trauma with us while we ate supper. Not judging, not condemning, simply listening, encouraging, and praying with Him…”

Thought about the Muslim families sitting next to us at Panera bread during our business meeting on Saturday, and dreamed about how to bridge the huge relational gap, to reach out to them…not sure yet how I will do it, but I will love them, and share Jesus love with them, somehow…

No respecter of persons….

love one another

This is the love of God working and maturing in our hearts…

Jesus loves people, not just church people, but all the people He created, and His desire and wish is that none should perish.

You know, I have watched certain ministries, that really miss this idea. They have their ‘clique’ of people they run with and network with, but unless you are ‘one of them’ or in their circles, you are shunned, distained, or openly spoken evil about.

rejected1

In my life, this has been brutal emotionally, yet awesome in the way it has forced me to see, to understand, to love, and to carefully decide to build my life, family, ministry not on who I know, but rather upon the Word of God, and faith in Jesus.

This love walk is the most important thing we can ever learn, for it is love that never fails…

aj love

Let’s Pray:

‘Father, please forgive us for knowingly, or unknowingly being a respecter of persons in either our judgements or in our treatment of others. Lord Jesus, fill us afresh with Your love! Holy Spirit, be stirred up in our hearts, and love the people around us, through us. Amen!’

‘Gossip is the most deadly microbe. It has neither legs nor wings. It is composed entirely of tales, and most of them have stings.’

Morris Mandel in Bits & Pieces, June, 1990, p. 22

 gossip slither

Recently, we went through a wonderful trial, that occurred when another person accused us of some financial mismanagement, that was totally untrue. Gossip is like a serpents venom, it poisons people against you, and may take years to rebuild trust in relationships.

Just because ‘Everyone is saying it’, does not make it true!

The Bible says we are kings and priest unto God, and we must conduct ourselves as royalty!

Proverbs 16:10

A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.

As leaders we hear a lot of stories, and we need to judge not only actions, but motives. Had a situation last year, where we wanted to donate to a certain ministry, and one of the businesses needed to know exactly where the building materials donated were going. So, I sent him an email with the ministers name and location of the construction project we were planning, because he grew up in that state, and knew the area. Seems another person who ‘wanted to get involved’ asked for the material list I sent my former client, so I sent it to them. They got involved alright, instead of helping, they accused me of ‘taking up offerings in the name of the other ministry’, and then spread the ‘rumor’ of this to many, many other ministries. I could not believe they had done this, so I attempted to meet with them, to discuss it, but they have not returned telephone calls nor emails since then.

shark back

As far as I’m concerned, I have forgiven them, and am aggressively using my faith to believe the best of them, and for them, declaring these two verses over their lives:

Philippians 1:6

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Philippians 2:13

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Faith works by love, and so I am using my faith on purpose for their growth and instruction in the things of God.

faith works by love

Check the facts before you judge leader, it is for your glory and promotion.

Proverbs 25:2

It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

glory conceal

In the midst of my particular trial, I had a good friend of mine, who is studying to be a rabbi, who lives in Jerusalem, call me. I told him what I was going through, and he said, “Interesting. Chris, did you know that here, in Israel, we take character assassination of more consequence than even murder? He then reminded me of a story I had heard before, he had heard in synagogue:

If you don’t say it, they can’t repeat it. Yiddish folklore offers a telling tale about gossip-makers. One such man had told so many malicious untruths about the local rabbi that, overcome by remorse, he begged the rabbi to forgive him. “And, Rabbi, tell me how I can make amends.” The rabbi sighed, “Take two pillows, go to the public square and there cut the pillows open. Wave them in the air. Then come back.” The rumormonger quickly went home, got two pillows and a knife, hastened to the square, cut the pillows open, waved them in the air and hastened back to the rabbi’s chambers. “I did just what you said, Rabbi!” “Good.” The rabbi smiled. “Now, to realize how much harm is done by gossip, go back to the square…” “And?” “And collect all your feathers.”

From Hooray for Yiddish.

gossip feathers

Looks like the work of this person has blown feathers all over America. Gotta believe the blood of Jesus can wash away their mess…I need to believe what I preach!

think1

Here are a couple of thoughts, before speaking and decision making:

I once formed a mutual encouragement fellowship at a time of stress in one of my pastorates. The members subscribed to a simple formula applied before speaking of any person or subject that was perhaps controversial.

T–Is it true? H–Is it helpful? I–Is it inspiring? N–Is it necessary? K–Is it kind?

If what I am about to say does not pass those tests, I will keep my mouth shut! And it worked!

Alan Redpath, A Passion for Preaching.

God loves You

God is love, and He will work it all out, as only He can.

Let’s pray:

‘Father, I come before you, determined to walk free from offense, and in Your love. Give me grace to see correctly into situations, and before I judge, to investigate to see what is being done, and why. May I victoriously obey you, and press forward towards the mark of the high calling in Christ Jesus, Amen.’

Writing..Truth that falls in the street!

truth in street

Ecclesiastes 12:

12 But about going further [than the words given by one Shepherd], my son, be warned. Of making many books there is no end [so do not believe everything you read], and much study is a weariness of the flesh.

13 All has been heard; the end of the matter is: Fear God [revere and worship Him, knowing that He is] and keep His commandments, for this is the whole of man [the full, original purpose of his creation, the object of God’s providence, the root of character, the foundation of all happiness, the adjustment to all inharmonious circumstances and conditions under the sun] and the whole [duty] for every man.

14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it is good or evil.

As I complete this third writing project, and consider my next 2 books, I have learned, by experience this activity, must be done in obedience to the Lord, for the sake of the gospel, for His glory, for this verse is indeed true: ‘much study is a weariness of the flesh’.

Studying, researching, writing, editing, publishing, and now marketing my books, is no small task.

This journey has changed me – from a bold, confident, almost brash contractor, who used 6000 minutes/month on his cell phone, to an introverted, prayerful, quiet, reflective, deeply passionate, man of God. Where I used to talk all day to people, I now talk all day with God, and endeavor to more fully obey Him, and to love people, no strings attached…

If I use 300 minutes/month now, that is BIG!

Perhaps one of my books will become widely distributed, and I will actually make some money at it, but this is not the primary reason that I write.

This is: https://chrisaomministries.wordpress.com/2015/01/05/why-publish-the-word-of-god/

It is my purpose and prayer, that my books will help add value to people and expand the kingdom of God.

While I can speak, pray and visit places on our myriad missions trips, I can simply leave one of my books in the right hands, and the message and mandate of God given to my life, can be greatly amplified.

This current book,  http://www.amazon.com/Welcome-Grand-illusion-Prophetic-Strategy/dp/1497594839/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1429722053&sr=8-1&keywords=Welcome+to+the+Grand+Illusion has been a gut-wrenching project, as I have prayed, sacrificed, researched, and written, of deep spiritual revelation, that I believe is the heart of the Creator, for the United States of America, now – a far different viewpoint than expressed in any mainstream media.

Yet, will anyone listen?

Isaiah 59:14

Justice is turned away backward, and righteousness (uprightness and right standing with God) stands far off; for truth has fallen in the street (the city’s forum), and uprightness cannot enter [the courts of justice].

Several weeks ago, I had a vivid dream, of a civil war in America, I awoke seeing millions die, in senseless violence, and it so shook me that I prayed for several hours. Finally the voice of the Lord came to me and He said:

This is the natural progression of events in the United States, but it CAN be averted through prayer.

And, so, I have abandoned all, to do exactly that, PRAY, fervently for America, many hours each day, that God might have mercy upon us, and send His Holy Spirit to restore us again to righteousness..

The Heart of a Curse!

The Heart of a Curse!

The Heart of a Curse…

Galatians 3:13The Message (MSG)

13-14 Christ redeemed us from that self-defeating, cursed life by absorbing it completely into himself. Do you remember the Scripture that says, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”? That is what happened when Jesus was nailed to the cross: He became a curse, and at the same time dissolved the curse. And now, because of that, the air is cleared and we can see that Abraham’s blessing is present and available for non-Jews, too. We are all able to receive God’s life, his Spirit, in and with us by believing—just the way Abraham received it.

2 Cor 5:20 (Phillips)For if a man is in Christ he becomes a new person altogether—the past is finished and gone, everything has become fresh and new.

This is our positional truth, that we behold and marvel upon as we understand our new birth, and adoption into God’s family as His child!

Yet, even as a Christian, there can be cycles of defeat, despair, that seem to helplessly continue in our families and children. This, theologians have identified as a ‘generational curse’.

Yet, we are redeemed from every curse!

So why do certain bad things continue to happen? Cycles of addiction, defeat, abuse, brokenness in yea even, Christian homes?

Let’s take a look at a couple of Scriptures: Joh 7:24 Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. Mt 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

Mr 11:26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. forgive prisoner

The kingdom of God, is a kingdom of love. It is also a kingdom of truth.

We are called to love people, to overcome evil with good, and to: Mt 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; Lu 6:28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you. Ro 12:14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

Ever had a series of bad things seem to keep happening in your life, a seemingly unending cycle of heartache, betrayal, and bad things?

Seems that as soon as you begin to get over the last heartbreak, bad relationship, or betrayal, another one looms on the horizon of time…. Makes you want to give up in hopelessness…

HOW A CURSE WORKS

This is a curse, and here is how it works. When someone does us wrong, it hurts. broken hearted

Heart Wounds:

Just like a regular cut or wound, if a wound in our heart is not cleansed and tended it too, it can become infected. An infection in the heart of man, is called bitterness, and it not only hurts us, in making us cynical, sarcastic, and hateful, but it also poisons the every atmosphere we enter.

Heb 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

So, how do we end the cycle of brutality, and create a better future? You need to see this verse again: Mt 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. When you refuse to forgive, you judge. When you judge, that which you wished would happen to your enemy, continually happens in your life. Simple, forgive! how forgive You don’t understand! I have a right to be angry! They ripped me off, (or in many cases, performed much worse atrocities than that!) I did not say you couldn’t, or shouldn’t be angry, but I did say you MUST forgive! unforgiveness

It is a command of God, not a suggestion!

You have a right to be angry, but you do not have a right to judge them, or hold a grudge, and become bitter. Let me make it plain. You have a right to forgive. You have a covenant right to be healed from what they did. You do not have a right to unforgiveness, bitterness, and judgment. In fact, this law of God, of judgment, is what will keep you in your cycle of defeat and betrayal, as you baste in your bitterness. listen anger coal The Bible is the Word of God, eternally established before the throne of God, in the heavens, it is eternal law. Now reread these words of Jesus, in light of this: Mt 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

When we judge, we are judged!

The judgment, is simple: “what goes around, comes around.” The exact same thing that we judge others for, we get judged for, and it opens the door for the cycle of destruction in our lives again. Ugh! We can forgive, heal, love, and go free, and discover that: Pr 26:2 As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come,

Or

we go around the mountain one more time….

I believe you will forgive. As you do, I would like to pray for you:

I command, all the horrible things that have kept happening in your life, now stop! In the name, power, and authority, of the Lord Jesus Christ,  it has become your time to heal, and walk in a brighter, more glorious life and future!

Let’s pray together: ‘Father, You know, You see, and You have seen what has been done to me, and what I have done. Forgive me, for my judgment, hatred, bitterness, and for taking offense. I declare right now, before Your throne, that I forgive! Every time I think of what has been done to me, I will stand upon these words, I forgive. Now Father, heal me, restore what has been stolen, lost, broken, betrayed, and shattered, in my life, and the life of my family, for You alone are big enough to do it. In Your name I pray this Lord Jesus, Amen!’

Divine Logic – Truth or Consequences…

Divine Logic - Truth or Consequences...

If…Then

In Boolean logic, or in mathematics, or especially in computer programming, we learn how to quantify logical expressions, using the famous IF/THEN type of reasoning.
IF (it is raining outside) THEN (bring umbrella). The computer then blasts through all the possible IF conditions, to decide what to do, and it only does, what it finds to be true, in the IF condition.

If a = b
As I read this passage in today’s reading, it brought this whole line of reasoning back to my remembrance in an almost sarcastically, comical kind of way. It would be funny, if it were not so serious…
Let’s look at it:

Jer 26:2 Thus saith the LORD; Stand in the court of the LORD’S house, and speak unto ALL the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD’S house, ALL the words that I command thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word:
Jer 26:3 IF so be they will hearken, and turn every man from his evil way, (THEN) that I may repent me of the evil, which I purpose to do unto them because of the evil of their doings.

If they will listen
Jer 26:4 And thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; IF ye will not hearken to me, to walk in my law, which I have set before you,
Jer 26:5 To hearken to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I sent unto you, both rising up early, and sending them, but ye have not hearkened;
Jer 26:6 THEN will I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.
Jer 26:7 So the priests and the prophets and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the LORD.
Jer 26:8 Now it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that the LORD had commanded him to speak unto all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people took him, saying, Thou shalt surely die.
Jer 26:9 Why hast thou prophesied in the name of the LORD, saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate without an inhabitant? And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the LORD.

In this chapter, God had called ALL of His people together at Jerusalem, and told them IF you listen and obey me, AND turn from your wicked ways: THEN I will spare you the evil that is about to come upon you.

do or do not
What is interesting is the character of God revealed here. He is not some screaming Meany hurling lightning bolts from heaven, rather, I see Him here as a good God, a loving Father, who sees consequences to actions coming down the pipe, and who honestly tries to avert them, to prevent them from happening to the people He loves.
Back to my logic again: IF, THEN, AND, and OR are logical terms, whether you encounter them in Boolean Logic, Computer Programming, Circuit Design, or Mathematics.
This passage of Scripture goes like this:
IF (condition1 AND condition2) THEN. (Disaster Prevented)
People respond clearly that they are not willing to do (condition1 OR condition2) THEN (disaster).
Guess tutoring my daughter in math these days has my engineering and math mind kicking in again…
Ok, back to the Word of God for a second.

God is alive!

alive
God is also Holy!

Just as there are scientific laws that govern the universe, there are also moral laws that govern the earth.

This is the Word of God, or the Torah.
God is very loving and merciful, but also totally knowable and trustworthy. His moral laws have never changed, nor will they.

no lie
Just as ignorance of a natural law, will not prevent the consequences the breaking of it will incur, so it is with moral law.
Take gravity for instance: if a child did not know about gravity, yet stepped off a building, they would still go down. The law is fixed.
It is the same with respect to the Word of God. There are moral absolutes, and there are consequences for breaking these laws.
In this passage, God saw that the consequence for the people of Judah breaking His laws, was about to cause Him to ‘I make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.’
In the Old Testament, God spoke two ways, with the same intent in each.
He has given the Torah, the written word of God, which explains His standards, and gives commandments to be obeyed. It is always His intent that we walk in holiness, obedience, love towards Him and our fellow man.
Yet, people have free will, and choose to do their own thing.
When they do, there are consequences to their actions, which may not be readily apparent, initially…Just like the child who jumps off the roof, things look fine while in the air, its the sudden stop at the bottom that hurts!
The second way that God spoke under the Old Covenant was through his servants, the prophets.

(This is why Moses and Elijah appeared to Jesus on the mount of transfiguration, because Jesus fulfilled both the law and the prophets)
All that a prophet did, is hear the voice of the Holy Spirit, and when people departed from the written Word of God, they brought correction or direction, for people to return to God and His Word.

prophecy speaks through prophets
Matthew 11:13
For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied up until John.

In this passage, my logic example holds true.

The people, had disobeyed God, and were not living according to the Word of God. So, God sent Jeremiah, the prophet, to bring them back to Himself, and to His Word.

IF (condition1 AND condition2) THEN. (Disaster Prevented)
People respond clearly that they are not willing to do (condition1 OR condition2) THEN (disaster).
The cynical humor of this, is not so much that the people rejected the Word of God, but the way they did so.
God sends Jeremiah, in love, in tears, to prevent disaster. He tells them what to do, and how to prevent it.
Instead of taking responsibility for their actions, they immediately decide that:
1. We are not going to listen.
2. We are not going to turn from our wicked ways.
3. We do not want to listen to Jeremiah.
4. Jeremiah must be the problem, so let’s kill him!

We read that:
Jer 26:8 Now it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that the LORD had commanded him to speak unto all the people, that the priests and the prophets and all the people took him, saying, Thou shalt surely die.
Jer 26:9 Why hast thou prophesied in the name of the LORD, saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate without an inhabitant? And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the LORD.

Their implied reasoning is that ‘We had no problems until you showed up Jeremiah! You are our problem! We did not cause this, you did! You need to die, because you said that the city was going to be destroyed!’

Bad logic. Faulty reasoning. Horrible consequences.

dunce

Ever had something similar happen? You quietly, methodically tell someone, or group of people the truth, and instead of attempting to process what you stated, they immediately revile, attempt to discredit, insinuate against, or try to destroy you!

The good news is that you are not the problem. We who love Jesus and who love people are instruments of God’s love, not His wrath. Yet,

Proverbs 19:3
Amplified Bible (AMP)
3 The foolishness of man subverts his way [ruins his affairs]; then his heart is resentful and frets against the Lord.
I think this thought is more plainly translated, here in the NIV:

Proverbs 19:3
New International Version (NIV)
3 A person’s own folly leads to their ruin,
yet their heart rages against the LORD.

You bring truth to a person, in love, that corrects them.

truth in love

Instead of recognizing that they might be wrong, they get angry.

They are really angry at God, but because we serve Jesus, they generally vent their anger, at us…

So what do we do? How do we handle it?

Do we go into a deep funk, and get depressed?

Not if we want to meet the approval of God. It’s time to sing a song, shout unto God with a voice of triumph, and get happy!

New International Version
Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
Matthew 5:11-13

When the Apostles were thrown in prison, did they go into the depths of despair for being beaten or falsely imprisoned or accused?

Act_5:41 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.

Acts 16:24-30
New International Version (NIV)
24 When he received these orders, he put them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks.
25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everyone’s chains came loose.

comfortable
So, bust loose a little! Give Jesus some glory today in your world. Bless Him, praise Him, laugh a little bit, and lighten up. It’s a great day to be making headlines in heaven!
Let’s pray:
‘Father, I come before you today, and trust You to breath through me by Your precious Holy Spirit, Your truth, Your love to this generation. As I gently bring correction and direction, encouraging folks to quit lying, cheating, or acting contrary to You and Your Word, grant me joy unspeakable and full of glory, when they revile, lie about, or attack me. In your mighty name I pray Lord Jesus, Amen’
