Heal our Land!

Read Ezekiel 34, true and false Shepherds
Creation is affected by Godly leadership.
Ever see the children’s movie, ‘The Lion King?’ There are many spiritual allegories there, but the one I wish to bring out presently, is how the land mourns, and is in famine, under Scar, the wicked, usurping unappointed king, come to the throne through treachery and deceit.
Ezekial 34:24b (The Voice)
I, the Eternal One, have spoken.
25 I will establish a covenant of peace with them and drive away all the dangerous wild animals from the land. Then they will be able to live safely in the wilderness and sleep soundly in the forests. 26 I will make them and the area around My holy hill a blessing. At My direction, there will be plenty of rainfall when it is needed. There will be showers of blessing! 27 The trees of the fields and orchards will bear abundant fruit, the soil of the fields will produce ample crops, and My people will rest securely within their land. They will know that I am the Eternal when I destroy the dominion of their oppressors and liberate them from those who made them slaves. 28 Foreign powers won’t ravage them anymore, and wild beasts will no longer feast on their flesh. They’ll be safe and free and fearless. 29 I will make their land famous for its beauty and productivity. Never again will famine strike their land. Never again will other nations sneer at them. 30 They will know that I, the Eternal One their God, am on their side and that they, the people of Israel, are My people.
After God declares His opposition to the shepherd-rulers who neglected and exploited their human flock, God pledges to get involved personally. He will search for the lost sheep, return the strays, and care for them tenderly back in the beautiful land of Israel, the land of promise.
But in God’s human flock are trouble and competition. Even as God lovingly supplies His flock with plenty of good food, clear water, and pleasant pastures, some trample what they can’t control and foul what they can’t consume. Some bully and push their weight around, while others move aside or run for the hills. Again God sees the problem and promises to step in, personally, to rescue His hassled people and put an end to injustice. So God promises to send another shepherd-ruler, in the spirit of King David, who will love and care for the flock as God Himself does. This Davidic shepherd will be unlike the wicked, neglectful shepherd-rulers in Israel’s past; this son of David will rule as their prince in submission to Israel’s one True God.
But there is more. In the final movement of this oracle, God announces a new covenant—a covenant of peace. Its scope is beyond human community and politics. It is a renewal of life in the land of Israel and, by extension, in the rest of creation.
In Romans chapter 1, we read:
18 For the wrath of God is breaking through from heaven, opposing all manifestations of ungodliness and wickedness by the people who do wrong to keep God’s truth in check. 19 These people are not ignorant about what can be known of God, because He has shown it to them with great clarity. 20 From the beginning, creation in its magnificence enlightens us to His nature. Creation itself makes His undying power and divine identity clear, even though they are invisible; and it voids the excuses and ignorant claims of these people 21 because, despite the fact that they knew the one true God, they have failed to show the love, honor, and appreciation due to the One who created them!
God is revealed in creation, and we see from the preceding passage, Creation is designed to be stewarded by loving, kind, and wise shepherds, who know and walk with God, in truth and holiness.
Of course, this has never changed, for God has never changed.
We have lived like the good lions under the leadership of Scar, suffering as his leadership destroys everything it touches.
We, each of us, are the Simba’s of the story. Called to rise up, and fight our own particular fight of faith in this generation, taking our place as kings and lords in His domain, subject to the King of all kings, and Lord of all Lords, the true lion of the tribe of Judah, King Jesus!
Yet, there is a righteous roar that must come from the heart of the church, as we groan in agony with creation under the weight of sin and wickedness in the earth.
Romans 8:19-26
New Living Translation (NLT)
19 For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are. 20 Against its will, all creation was subjected to God’s curse. But with eager hope, 21 the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay. 22 For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23 And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children,[a] including the new bodies he has promised us. 24 We were given this hope when we were saved. (If we already have something, we don’t need to hope[b] for it. 25 But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.)
26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words
Groan, travail, then arise in the power of God and ROAR!
There must be a shout of violent faith in the earth!
Let’s Pray:
‘Father, Heal our Land! Raise up shepherds, leaders, after Your own heart, with wisdom, gentleness, and sacrificial love to provide direction to this wayward generation, that you might quench the groans of creation, in the glory revealed in our unveiling. May you break our hearts in deep travail, groaning, and mourning, until we meet You Lord Jesus, the true Lion King! Let us arise, in passion, zeal, with the shout of a king amongst us, in violent faith, to turn the tide of filth, defilement, curses, and wickedness, overthrowing those foul spirits who have usurped Your authority, through the sin of man. May there be a deep move of Your Spirit, convicting of sin, and bringing forth fruit in keeping with repentance and the holiness You and Your Kingdom represent. We cry out, yet again, for Your mercy, Your presence, Your power displayed Lord Jesus, Amen!’

Love Loud Today!

Love Loud Today!

  Love Loud Today!

Light Illuminates, Darkness blinds
1 John 2:9 He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
10 He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
11 But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

Love is like light, it brightens this dark world with hope, faith, and joy.

I remember when I was 21, working aboard a sailboat. We had sailed from Key West, Florida, and were now in Madiera, Portugal. The relationships on the boat had deteriorated to the point, that there had been open talk of murdering one another.

sail

Dark, dark days. In this state of mind, I received a day off, and went ashore to explore. Madeira is a bee hive of commerce, and the open markets watching people haggle and hustle were a wonder to behold. Stopped at several places: A private club up on a mountainside, where a ladies bridge club was meeting, seemed they had seven people and needed a fourth to complete their second table, so I sat in for a couple of hands. These ladies questioned me about Canada, and were very educated, and began breathing life into my tired soul. It had been a tough couple of months crossing the Atlantic, and the tension aboard the boat was tangible to the point, where something had to give, or something was going to snap. After a couple of hours of pleasant fellowship with them, I decided to climb to the top of the mountain there, and off I went, following the criss-cross cobblestone streets, higher, and higher, until I finally left the city, and found countryside.

madiera

Misty, mysterious paths, that led higher. I still remember how I towered above the Portuguese, at my 6’1” height, and how, as I saw these pale, hard working people scurrying fearfully between shops, with cruel shop keepers, and often security guards with machine guns, watching, that I vowed that I would never become like them. They reminded me of caged pets, running on a treadmill, but going nowhere.

Open sky, and open ocean were to be my lot in life…or so I thought…

madiera1
The cobblestone path I followed, cut through the back yards of some small houses, and in one back yard, a little girl, a toddler was playing. She saw me, pointed, and giggled, and then laughed out loud at the appearance of the strange giant in her world.

She loved me!

When she did, something broke in me.

girl

All my worry, stress, fear, anger, hatred and rage against the crew, left in an instant, and suddenly I felt unburdened, and free to live again. Simply from a loving gesture from a toddler!

Love is like light. It dispels darkness. That little babies love blasted away my darkness and negativity in an instant.

Psalm 119:130

The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

Obviously, my footloose and fancy free days have long gone, although I still love to travel, and meet new people in new cultures and languages, as a parent with children, the big ‘R’, has found its place in me (Responsibility!)

In Rwanda, after much prayer, I had a similar experience, many, many years later. I had been invited to speak there by a friend of mine, Parfait Karakazi, and I found myself in the same state of mind I had been in so many years before working on the boat. I had just lost eleven thousand dollars on an unpaid construction contract, and faced about twenty five thousand dollars of unpaid bills on my desk. Tension in my company was high, and I needed to either bust a move, and make something happen, or we were going to lose the company. In the midst of this madness, now, I heard Holy Spirit speak to me: ‘Go to Rwanda!’. To make a long story short, a client paid for my trip, and off I went.

Before getting there, I was scared, having heard about the genocide there, and the reality of what I was about to do, really settled in. So, instead of climbing a physical mountain, I climbed another mountain, the mountain of prayer. I began to pray in other tongues, and determined that I would pray in tongues, and listen to the audio Bible on my headphones, the entire 27 hour plane ride to Kigali, Rwanda. In the midst of this, a verse of Scripture erupted into my heart, and suddenly, I was no longer the beleaguered businessman, but an instrument of God’s love, with a message for an entire nation!

Mt 4:16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

Suddenly, all my years of Bible school and study came alive in a moment, as I entered into the reason I was created.

Hatred, murder, genocide, are works of darkness. The people of Rwanda, were so broken, shattered, and uninstructed in the Word of God, that they sat, hopelessly, and helplessly in darkness, the whole region was covered by the shadow of death. (With 1.1 million people slaughtered in genocide, only 15 years previous to my 2009 trip, the shadow of death still loomed over the land in many ways)

Yet, the gospel, is the love of God, and is always good news.

God is love, and He is healing a nation….

Ps 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.

I suddenly saw that the people of Rwanda were incapable of ‘getting up and getting on with it’, without the help of heaven.

They sat…

sit1

Yet, we are called as Christians, to walk by faith, and to stand against the obstacles of life, in faith.

Faith works by love, and love is light….

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God….

Suddenly, I began to gently weep, as the love of God for the people of Rwanda, began to flow through me. I knew that God was about to do something spectacular, but had no idea what or how….

Mt 10:40 He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

God, my heavenly Father, was about to adopt some children, a whole nation of them, if they would receive Him!

And the rest is history. So, after my all night flight and prayer vigil, I was given the opportunity to speak on the local radio station, and I am told that 100,000 Rwandese heard my message of Jesus love.

For 45 mins after I spoke, the telephone lines were jammed with people calling in for prayer.

Many, many people received Jesus that day, and now we have many Bible schools in Rwanda, teaching the love and power of God.

Love is light and life…Love loud today!

You have no idea the depths of darkness, pain, and suffering people are in around you, the difference your simple love and joy are making…

God loves You
Let’s pray:
‘Father, You love. It is Your very nature. Love Loud through me today! Flow through me with joy, laughter, life, peace, and Your unstoppable power today! Make today count in light of eternity, may I make a difference in someone’s life today, in Your name I pray Lord Jesus, Amen!’

Jer 22:29 O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.

Jer 22:29 O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.

Replenish!
More on the word: REPLENISH… Genesis 1:28, “And God BLESSED them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and REPLENISH the earth… Webster’s 1828 Dictionary defines REPLENISH as, (1) to stock with abundance, (2) to finish; to complete, (3) to recover former fullness… Jesus said in John 10:10, He has come that THEY (referring to those who HEAR, and ENTER in through Jesus, and walk in THE BLESSING), might HAVE LIFE (zoe – the God-kind of life, the abundant life), and HAVE it (this life) MORE ABUNDANTLY! The Amplified says, “I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the FULL, till it overflows).” Again, we read in Isaiah 45:18, that God didn’t create the earth in vain (He had a purpose), but formed it to be inhabited… Another translation says, “(God) made a world where people can live, instead of creating an EMPTY DESERT.” No, God didn’t create an EMPTY DESERT! Genesis 2 says He PLANTED a GARDEN… and He EMPOWERED you with this BLESSING to FILL this world with the Garden of Eden!
The earth, the creation, is waiting for you!
Jer 22:29 O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.
Rom 1: 19 This is because what is known about God should be plain to them because God made it plain to them. 20 Ever since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities—God’s eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, because they are understood through the things God has made.
There have always been two books written about God, the creator. The Bible of course, and the creation. Though the creation has been damaged by sin, and the fall of man and devils:
Rom 8:19 (Common English version) The whole creation waits breathless with anticipation for the revelation of God’s sons and daughters. 20 Creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice—it was the choice of the one who subjected it—but in the hope 21 that the creation itself will be set free from slavery to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of God’s children. 22 We know that the whole creation is groaning together and suffering labor pains up until now. 23 And it’s not only the creation. We ourselves who have the Spirit as the first crop of the harvest also groan inside as we wait to be adopted and for our bodies to be set free.
The earth, the creation, is waiting for you, in this generation, to rise up in redemption, in mercy, in authority, in boldness, declaring the Word of God to it! When you do, amazing things occur,
Isaiah 51:3
The LORD will comfort Zion; he will comfort all her ruins. He will make her desert like Eden and her wilderness like the LORD’s garden. Happiness and joy will be found in her— thanks and the sound of singing.

Ezekiel 36:35
They will say, “This land, which was a desolation, has become like the garden of Eden.” And the cities that were ruined, ravaged, and razed are now fortified and inhabited.

This is redemption! This is what the covenant blessing of God will do through you, as you serve Jesus, in this generation. You have the power of Almighty God, to heal the land!
Let’s pray:
‘Father, teach me how to heal, replenish, subdue, recreate, and bless the earth, and to literally recreate Eden, wherever you place me, in Your name I pray Lord Jesus, Amen!’

That the Glory of God be Revealed!

That the Glory of God be Revealed!

That the glory of God be revealed!
John 9:3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
In todays reading, we see Jesus healing of the blind man. The disciples, students of Jesus, were trying to learn how to work the works of God, and they had learned one lesson, that sin can cause sickness, pain, and destruction, yet not all sickness and heartache is caused by a person’s sin.
As we walk through this war torn, pain wracked, broken creation, we see the tragedies that have fallen upon often good people. Yes, some are caused by their personal sin, but bad things can happen to good people, not because they sin, but because of the fallen, broken state of creation.
Ro 8:22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
In this groaning of the earth, under the weight of sin in the system, we enter: manifest sons and daughters of the living God, filled and led of His Spirit, endued with His authority, to make wrongs, right.
21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
In this, we discover our redemptive privileges and responsibilities. We are the answer the world is waiting for, people who walk like Jesus in the earth, demonstrating His power, His love, His miracles, that alone can truly make wrong things, right. Remember HE is the Creator, able to reach into raw dirt, and the muck and mire of the human condition, to make, like He did Adam, people, perfect.
He wants to do this, through YOU today!
Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
There are good works for us to walk in today, supernatural acts of power, to open blind eyes, feed the hungry, heal broken hearted people, to heal the sick, to cast out devils…
We, as always, need to be filled with Holy Spirit, and like Jesus, about our Father’s business…
As we are, expect to see the unfixable fixed, the shattered, recreated, the unforgiveable, forgiven, the unsolvable, solved, for HE is the answer, the One who flung the star into the cosmos, Creator, Great One, can do, in an instant, what we, in a lifetime of labor, can never accomplish…
Let’s pray:
‘Father, we deliberately remember who You are, what You can do, why we are here. Open our eyes, our hearts, to love you and the people you place in my path today. Fill us Holy Spirit, afresh and anew with You, Your person, Your presence, Your power! Demonstrate Your power, mercy, compassion and miracles today, in my life, for Your glory, in Your name I pray Lord Jesus, Amen!’
